Hey guys so Im thinking of building a cpu mining computer to mine coins like monero/zoin and some other new coins maybe. I was wondering if you guys could point me in the direction of any other good coins to mine with a cpu or coins like zoin that are only cpu mineable?

Thanks

I tried CPU mining this year, shortly, to see if it makes sense.
I used the info from https://newcpucoins.com
Well, it doesn't. Most things I mined have dropped 2-4 times during the week I've been mining Smiley

You can use CPU mining calculator here https://crypt0.zone/calculator/s/mhck6oqc
And put how much hashrate can you get in your CPU then calculate you can see all coins listed that profitable in your CPU.

To calculate the income of Cryptonight coins I really like this website: https://www.cryptunit.com/
Nice design and easy to read with all the information you need.

will it profitable?

I tried mining nimiq a few weegs ago and when I remember correctly I got around 10 NIM a day with my Laptop. Right now, 10 NIM are worth $0.03 so not really profitable lol

Check out Blur. I've been mining a bit of it. CPU only, no pools. -> https://blur.cash/

there is no point in mining with cpu for a long time.

Mining with a Laptop is not a good idea in general - you'll just decrease the lifetime of your hardware.
I tried multiple Argon2d-based coins like CRDS, DYN and NIM and for now NIM seems to be the best in terms of profit since the total hashrate of DYN increased and the price of CRDS went down.
I'm using an i7-6700k (OC to 4.5 GHz) to solo-mine NIM on a Ubuntu 18.04 Subsystem (WSL) with a selfcompiled client in 'dumb-mode' and got around $30 worth of NIM within 31 days (power consumption ignored).

Note: You'll have to compile the WSL workaround to mine on WSL (https://github.com/nimiq-network/core/tree/paberr/wsl-workaround) and change node_modules/@nimiq/jungle-db/package.json line 4 to "main": "dist/leveldb.js",

https://github.com/nimiq-network/core/issues/387

You are right, you shouldn't mine coins with your laptop for several weeks if you care about its lifetime. But mining won't burn it within a few hours... I was just curious about the algo Argon2d and the hashrates, since I haven't used it before and right now I just have an old C2D CPU and a laptop with an i7, 2 cores to test.

Wow $1/day with solo mining for NIM isn't too bad!

I think CPU mining is worthless.
Don't mine cryptonight coin with CPU, you're got nothing. With my GPU is less profitable.
You can mine ASIC and GPU resistant coin like Nerva currency

Look at merit.me and use invite code "idrawlife"

Or you can look at AquaChain.

Whatever the device we are using, with some mining technique it may worth it, even CPU mining. Here's a good thread that was giving good info related to your question.

My Favorite CPU Mining Only coin is BiblePay,
I contribute CPU cycles to a Cancer Research project Rosetta@home
(they crowd source protien folding computations because they do not have the money to rent computers)

I am currently making $1.00+ a day in BBP with a Ryzen 7 1700 CPU machine
The BibleHash and Research algorithms work well on low end machines too.

We have this downloadable spreadsheet you can compare CPUS. We've got it for intel and multi xeon servers, but you can check it out here:

Hi Smiley

Well, that's right - for testing etc. you can use a laptop.
Just out of curiosity - have you checked if your CPU ran into thermal throttling when mining NIM?
When I mined on a pool I got around 300 NIM / day - one thing to mention is that I got ~ 30 kh/s on Windows and about 40-45 kh/s on Ubuntu 18.04.
However as always solo-mining depends on your personal luck but in average with 40kh/s you'd get a block every 15 days.

No, I just limited the skypool miner on Windows to 50% of CPU load... So it wasn't the maximum of the laptop because I didn't want it to get too hot. I'm sorry, I can't remember my hashrate for NIM but I decided that it wasn't worth it for me with my current hardware. I wish you luck finding blocks Wink
