What about a coin algo change to cryptonote? That would be innovative.

Definitely worth considering.

We're going through all the options, possibly and probably coming up with a synthesis consisting of a number of "the best" out there - as well as a handful of magic of our own... Wink

Thanks for this tip - please keep the comments coming! The apparent silence is just an illusion... Wink

I'm curious about what advantage cryptonote would have for DOPE.  I've never made a transaction with cryptonote outside the exchange but I know to withdrawal you need some payment id.
Would that add a layer of unnecessary complexity to making transactions in the real world at a dispensary or even on the streets?

I personally see nothing wrong with good old scrypt with maybe some Tor or something.  Maybe take a look at what StealthCoin is doing.

I do lean towards your points of view on this, tripppn. However, I do not wish to exclude any possibilities too early. I'm a (sometimes ridiculously;) thorough guy and have a modus operandi of investigating all options before making decisions - including unlikely and even crazy ones.

Due to this habit of looking into all directions before choosing the one(s) to move to, some tend to make the misjudgement that I don't know where I'm going. The truth is quite the opposite; I just keep my senses open to all possibilities and am always ready to question my previous conclusions, should there be new information that gives me the reason to do so.

The world in general appears to have some difficulties making a distinction between leadership and dictatorship. If a person lacks the signs of a dictator, i.e. the habit of announcing ultimatums regardless of whether or not he or she actually knows what he is doing, then this can be interpreted as a sign of weakness or indecisiveness. Sadly, the opposite is also true: no matter how ungrounded the decisions are, if they are made and expressed in a Stalin like manner, it's often enough to convince the masses that "we should/must follow him".

It's a mad world we're living in. Hopefully we'll be able to make it a bit better by the power of DOPE. Wink

Can I get a link to the latest wallet please?

Can't sync beyond block 85802 with wallet 2.0.0.0 which is all I can find anywhere.

Bit of a forum search on block 85802 stated I need wallet version 2.1, perhaps the links in the op and official site need to be updated.

Using Windows.

Thanx

OP link needs to be updated though.

DOPE would be the only cryptonote coin. Cryptonote is early stages, maybe too early. There isn't much technology for it yet. The android wallet wouldn't work anymore.

DOPE is about anonymity still? I heard cryptonote ring signatures make transactions anonymous. That would be one benefit. It probably isn't enough benefit to change.

Maybe in 1 year DOPE can switch to cryptonote.

The dogecoin mining thing worked out pretty well. The thing where you can mine dogecoin and litecoin at once. I'm not sure how it all works.

What if you could mine upwards in a longer sequence of scrypt coins with higher mining difficulties at each stage DOPE -> THC -> PotCoin -> dogecoin -> litecoin all at once? Is that possible?

Soon after, the sequence would probably end up DOPE -> DOGE -> LTC because DopeCoins mining difficulty would increase past The Hemp Coin and PotCoin.

The official pool was fixed about a week ago already.

Have you not received your coins yet?

Please PM me with the details (including your account at the pool) and I'll look into it asap.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Cryptonote does indeed hold lots of potential to it. I'm not that worried about the fact that it's a new protocol - as long as the design and implementation are firm enough.

DOPE is definitely very much about anonymity, and Cryptonote is one of the candidates on my to-be-investigated-further list. Other options exist as well, and I also have a handful of concepts of my own that will be on the comparison chart.

---  WARNING  ---

Do not mine  at their official pool  (http://pool.dopecoin.com). I used to mine there and I lost my coins (about 360,000 dopes) when I requested a manual payout (no Txid either) to my AllCoin account. Sent an email to support two weeks ago, but never got a reply...

Mark my words....mine at your own risk there.

Mining to an exchange is bad practice. Stop doing it.

Pools and exchanges sometimes have errors/bugs. It is best to mine to your wallet sending out automatic payments every hour.

Just cause a pool had a problem and doesn't respond to support for a week doesn't mean they are a scam.

---------------

I didn't mine directly to the exchange. Pool sudenly stoped making auto payouts and when I requested a manual payout after a few days, my coins sent somewhere else than my account, but my pool balance became zero....

Not reply to a support ticket, show how serious devs are.

I never used the word SCAM, but after that how can you be sure that they aren't..?

DONT MINE THERE UNTIL DEVS SHOW THEY CARE ABOUT MINERS...

No email was ever received, and the fault was because you asked for too many coins in one transaction (too many small inputs), this not only caused your transaction to fail, but caused the whole payment system to crash.

Your coins have now been sent manually in smaller transactions.

---  WARNING  ---

Dionlouk, I'm sorry for the problems you've been experiencing with the official pool.

All of the Dopecoin related infrastructure (including the official pool) have been under transition from Dopey (the original developer of Dopecoin) and his associates to Altcoin.Center.

The transition is still underway, and since A.C does not yet have control over the servers, I am unfortunately unable to fix the issue with the pool myself.

I've sent out a word to reach the current poolmaster, and am hoping to hear back from him ASAP.

Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience!
