This is a take on the popular Reddit experiment the button, but with a few key differences. At the core, this button is based on an Ethereum smart contract. There's a countdown timer - when the button is pressed the timer resets (just like the original). Anyone can press the button as many times as they want, but it costs ether to press it. The last presser wins the accumulated ether as a jackpot!

Check it out here and join our subreddit!

9% to the developers is massively too high if you want this game to achieve any sort of success.

Also, 85 + 5 + 9 = 99%

Is the final 1% used for gas fees or what? And do you have a link to the smart contract audit?

Not really. I'm pretty sure there is more than one coder doing the work. Although if this experiment turns out as a great success then maybe a 5% allocation would actually make sense. I think the terms should be conditional based on the money raised. Interesting project though.

Seems like a very interesting game to me- I think the 85% towards the jackpot and 9% to the devs is fair considering how small the experiment is right now. I haven't ever seen a game like this before in a crypto casino before; I'll probably try it out later today.

I also especially like how you explain the entire thing in your Medium post. Great attention to detail there, I'm not extremely skilled at working with smart contracts but it's interesting to see how the entire thing works.

As for the 1%, it goes towards the next campaign according to the Medium article in the OP. I suggest putting this on your main site as there'll likely be more people inquiring about this in the future.

So why not just say that 10% goes to the team? Of course you will be funding the next project yourself any, so why bother splitting 1% off from the commission? Might as well just make it a straight 10%.

Whilst it might seem like a small amount now whilst the game is small, if it blows up it could end up being a huge amount of money. And, as with any game, the RTP needs to be reasonable.

Having the last person as a jackpot winner will effectively stall the game as people will be waiting for that sweet spot at the end of the given time. You can certainly make it more engaging by making few changes.

Instead of having one jackpot winner, make it 4 at random numbers like 15, 47, 80 and the last one. The numbers I have given for illustration, you can make it any random numbers and don't announce those numbers upfront. It will keep the game ongoing as participants will be trying to hit those hidden sweet spots.

Just a suggestion, think about it!

Interesting project indeed. Just as long as there is a link/proof that the charity has agreed to take the 5%, that the funds are of course given to them, and that the charity has a license to take the donation.

I commented recently on this type of game though, and how it is open to only large whales coming to win. I lost an amount I still feel painful about not too long ago playing exactly this type of game. They let you win a bit, then you just lose everything to chase the button.

Great suggestion. Make more than 1 prize, and randomly, so people have incentive to click it without the timer ending. Cool idea.

A good project and a good thought. I checked the website, is it down? or is there any time frame for next campaign? Please add a guide to show how it works. I am not familiar to this game may be that is why I am confused.

I believe this is pretty normal lottery just send something there and you will be enroll on their jackpot thing. But the problem is, do they increase the time after each people send their money there or may be after each input it will be increased the time? OP do not mentioned anything here. And if it is a last hit person that going to win then it will hard to determine when the game will end and the longer it takes the highly scam this site

I agree. The Button experiment from Reddit took months to hit zero, and that was with a timer of only a minute and everyone could only press it once. The timer on this site is currently at over 20 hours, with unlimited presses per user.

The whole thing is very fishy.

If its on contract then theres no one can able to take out those funds but if it isnt then this is the time we do say its fishy. We can read up here https://medium.com/coinmonks/introducing-thebutton-co-a-simple-ethereum-game-b1b03fe1e8ce
Contract is on here https://etherscan.io/address/0x2b0Ec0993a00b2Ea625e3b37Fcc74742f43a72Fe#readContract . This would be an another never ending game.

So this just runs forever now?

From current time y assumption is yes since they do not find a solution how is the  result going to be. So everyone are just going to be trapped there in case they deposit and keep on pushing the button. The only way is do not deposit it again but with this in the end OP will turn out to be the winner so they are going to be last one to played. Unless you have big bankroll then there is no way someone going to let this big amount gone

when I see a game with 15% house edge,I instinctively put my wallet somewhere safe Smiley
charity... awwww,so cute gambling and charity go so well together
with this particular game this is going to be a botfest (if there any who risk playing it)
none in his right mind would sit and watch the timer go,much easier to get a bot to monitor and place bets
also this simply cannot be provably fair, since the owner will always have the advantage of being able to "press" it last

Sometimes I wonder what developers think and the basis for which they are relying on to decide the right percentage that would accrue to them for their effort. Aside being just a developer, there is need to learn some skills of entrepreneurship and marketing because considering the already congested market of what you are offering and how far they gone in getting the loyalty of the same clients you are willing to woo to your side. There is what is called price penetration which is reducing price in other to gain some section of the market then gradually increase it from there.

But from the way I see it, it seems the opposite is what this developer is trying to implement and I don't see myself playing on a site they 9% is already penciled down for the developer couple with a new site not giving me any incentive to try it out despite the fact that there are more established sites asking for lower percentages.

I like the idea of a self contained regulating contracted game but thats too high a fee, both charity and dev fee should be more like 1% each.   Actually this would likely raise more money for both as it will increase the likelihood of popularity and success long term.

And or as this is a game that might get alot of views, it might be tied to advertising in some way as a way to subsidise proceeds or reduce this dev fee

It's a very nice idea of a new gambling game ! Love it.

The bad point is the active button is toooo long... And we don't really know if the last man who push the button is a normal member or the webmaster who could cheat you know. This is the only inconvenient of the game  Sad
