I am trying to use my blackcoins after long time. I hodl them about since 2014-2015, if I remember. The issue is that if I synchronize wallet with new wallet file and then replace with old wallet, then Blackcoin-qt is rescanning whole night and still not finished. Could you help me what to do, please?

You should have staked them all these years..

Hi Guys,

this is probably quite a newbie question, so bare with me Wink

I simply want to use the blacknetd (daemon) on a unix box (1.1.1.1)to run and connect with the qt wallet from a client system(1.1.1.2) to it. I experimented with commandline args supplied to the client but with no luck so far. Is this sort of setup intended? If so, what to add to those params:

Code:
blacknet-qt.exe -rpcuser=mm -rpcpassword=dontdocode -rpcport=666 -???

?

I also wrote some simple python code to interfere with the wallet without extra libraries, however i would rather like to stick to already tested code when it comes to transfer of coins, create wallets and encrypt...

Any good hints?

Cheers
MM

Blackcoin's growth is actually quite modest compared to many other alts. I wouldn't read too much into this without context.

Yes, Blackhalo has fully functioning smart contracts. It's currently in the process of fleshing out an in-wallet market place as well.

wow thats some really cool tech there....
is this out or coming soon m8?
Unbreakable Contracts
BlackHalo is the only program in the world to offer revolutionary unbreakable contracts! This allows you to agree on literally anything and know the other party will honor their word. By using double deposit, theft is now impossible. No escrow is needed, no middlemen or websites holding on to funds. Read the whitepaper and documentation for more details. One year in business!

i remember...hard worker,  David Zimbeck  is he still the dev?

Yes he is. He's active on Slack just like the other devs.

As for the smart contracts, they're already here. You can already form those contracts with other people. The next step is making it more accessible with custom templates for different uses so people don't have to figure out everything by themselves.

The one thing he has yet to release is Nighttrader, which is a completely decentralized exchange. Wallet-based. No more trading websites running away with your coins.

So automatic contracts means built in escrow type deals.  I got to use that for something just to test it and get used to it, I got old software I can sell probably.

Looking at the chart for blackcoin I see it straddling an uptrend, its kinda positive having drifted past the short term down trend but its not essentially tracking upwards.   I'd assume its positively consolidating for now.   Target to beat .00011737 which it did a day ago but failed to confirm or hold above, so tricky stuff.  However bitcoin did rise quite rapidly at this time which has an effect, much like dollar strength has on alot of prices

How are smart contracts created (from the technical side) in blackcoin? Is there also a turing complete language available?

I don't know to be honest. It's all open source and available on Github.

https://github.com/dzimbeck/blackcoin

What I think you're asking is whether the coin could function like Ethereum and have scripts running of the contract. Zimbeck mentioned something like tying scripts to the smart contracts but I dare not make any claims regarding that.

That is not the github for BlackHalo or BlackCoin, I think that is just a fork for some other project of the QT client.

Halo can be downloaded from http://blackhalo.info

Obfuscated source code is available at: http://www.davtonia.com/bithalo/haloobf.zip

BlackHalo does not have a turing complete language, it is a functioning smart contracting client made before Ethereum came along and gave that term the definition you're expecting. Halo uses a system of Double Deposit Escrow to enforce contracts (timed/scripted within the bounds of bitcoin scripting) which are executable with zero risk to either party if contract terms are adhered to and no arbiter. You should chat with Zimbeck some time on Slack, he is passionate about the methodology employed and only got into crypto because of the real world problems a system like this can help make more efficient and solve.

There's an interesting use case from a firm planning to use the software for child support payment enforcement which is being discussed in Slack. One of dozens of uses for it.

I've been following this project up until last year. To be honest, this coin needs a rebranding if it is hoping to go legitimate. I remember Blackcoin spawned around the same time of the anon/ color named coin hype (mintpal, anyone?), and I think it has grown up a lot from then. If you want the tech to be used by serious players, I think it is time to get serious ourselves.

Look at what happened to Darkcoin when it rebranded to DASH. My case and point.

Thoughts?
