Going to be honest, probably in over my head. This all sounds very good but is this real? If so, if BTH has such a problem with how BTC achieves consensus with 4 mining pools controlling  61% hash power therefore minting a majority of the new blocks, why give them the higher ratio of coins? Simply to encourage a higher value for BTH? Just curious.

How to import Guarda keys in Windows-wallet 0.18.9?

On Guarda, you'll have to go to "Export by Currency" in "Backup by Keys", find BTH, then enter your password to see your private key. It's recommended that you save this private key somewhere secure if you're going to be transferring it, in order to prevent someone else from accessing this key.

You can then enter that private key into the Windows Wallet by running this command:

beth-cli.exe importprivkey "privatekey" "labelforkey" false

Replace "privatekey" with your private key you got back from Guarda, and replace "labelforkey" with a name of your choosing. The false option ensures that the import doesn't do a full rescan so make sure that's there or else you'll have to wait for a rescan of the entire blockchain which could take hours to days.

We hope this is real and haven't wasted over a year developing something that isn't real Grin (we checked, it's real)

Our belief is that PoW coins in general face a centralization problem, which is why our plan is to switch to Proof of Stake. In the meantime, while we're PoW and PoS is being developed, by changing the mining algorithm from SHA-256 to Equihash 144,5 this can remedy the possibility of ASICs dominating the mining efforts in order to keep a level playing field amongst miners. This isn't a perfect solution by any means, but we believe this is the best route for mining prior to staking.

When you say higher ratio of coins are you referring to the block subsidy? If yes, then we reversed a halving period in order to double the block subsidies to entice more miners and create a strong network as we gear up towards the PoS shift.

If you're referring to the ratio of 1BTC:1BTH and 38ETH:1BTH, this is due to the price ratio of ETH:BTC at the time of our hard-spoon snapshot of Ethereum. As it's a Bitcoin fork, BTC holders will naturally be able to redeem at a 1:1 ratio with the amount of BTC they had prior to the fork block, since the blockchain is the same as Bitcoin's prior to block 555,555. Using the price ratio of ETH:BTC for the ETH:BTH ratio made the most economical sense at the time since ETH's supply is far greater.

The issue itself is not that they're accumulating more coins because those miners are minting a majority of new blocks, it's that those mining pools contain the power over the network and could potentially collude. Of course, the mining pools will most likely decide not to tarnish the network or all of the wealth they accumulated will vanish, however the point is that we're still leaving the power of the network up to 3/4 mining pools and hoping they act in the best interest of the network, which goes against the decentralized nature of Bitcoin.

Proof of Stake makes it far more difficult to collude and accumulate over 50% of staking power which greatly decreases the centralization of consensus.

For all Blockfolio users, you can now keep track of BTH on the Blockfolio app! We have also applied for Blockfolio Signal so that we can push updates to our community through that as well. You can download the app here: https://blockfolio.com

You can also keep track of BTH here:

Coin Codex - https://coincodex.com/crypto/bithereum/

Coin Gecko - https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/bithereum

One of our community members made an excellent guide on how to install the Windows and Linux core wallets and how to run a full node. Complete with commands for the CLI version as well as the guide for GUI version (for those who prefer not to use command line)

Check it out here: https://bthfaq.com.

As far as we're aware everything is operating normally in terms of withdrawing and depositing BTH

We're putting the final touches on the full node rewards program and we should be getting it out by next week, with the payout cycle starting on the 22nd, and the first payout being March 1st.

For those of you who are interested in earning BTH for running a full node, it's recommended to start running your full node now to get it synced by the first pay cycle.

We'll be posting a blog next week with all of the details!

Inbound connections must be allowed or this is optional? I have slow Internet connection.

Yes, you need to allow inbound connections. Having slow internet connection is fine, the rewards are based around uptime, as long as you're up you'll get rewarded.

I'm sure you already know how, but we'll be putting out a tutorial on how to enable port forwarding that will allow inbound connections.

Bithereum's Proof-of-Uptime v1.0 will be starting on February 22nd, where ANYONE who runs a BTH full node can be rewarded for doing so.

Check out our newest blog for more details on PoU! https://medium.com/bithereum-network/introducing-proof-of-uptime-7e91256aabf1

We're working to get the Bithereum Node Launcher up by the beginning of next week. The node launcher will make it easy for people who may not understand the technical ins and outs of setting up a full node.

If you would like to run a full node you will have two options: running an archive node, or running a pruned node.

An archive node is a full node that contains every single block within the BTH blockchain, and is suitable for someone who has the additional disk space for it (212 GB). A pruned node on the other hand, stores a specified amount of blocks at any given time and is suitable for someone who has less available disk space (between 16-32 GB).

In the coming days we'll be providing tutorials on how to use the Bithereum Node Launcher and how to set up an archive node and a prune node.

Feel free to ask us any questions!

For node owners it would be nice to make E-mail notifications about problems. ex. node offline etc...

Sample message:

-----
Hello node owner,

Your node: NODE ID OR NAME is offline in last 10 (5, 10, 20 etc) minutes. Please check your node or internet connection.

Thank you!

We'll have our Bithereum Full Node Launcher, which will display things like connection status and percentage uptime for the week.

We'll also look into adding email notifications or some form of notification that will tell you if your node is down for a certain amount of time. Thank you for the input!

Hi all, we just wanted to let everyone know that the explorer is down currently and may remain down for the next half a day or so. We are making some updates and upgrading servers; we ask that everyone bears with us in the meantime. Thanks!
