I think a lot of newbies buy litecoin because its easy to buy on coinbase

Not only that, because is well established currency, one of the oldest projects, it's stable and has cheap transaction costs.
yes no doubt that litecoin is very old and stable crypto right now in the market
and its transaction price is really cheap
newbies are buying that because its cheap transaction cost cheap and easy to move from one wallet to another
always newbies prefer cheap crypto currencies. because they won't spent a lot and can't take high risks
"With e-currency based on cryptographic proof, without the need to trust a third party middleman, money can be secure and transactions effortless." -- Satoshi

Why there are some people promoting their own projects here? Because this is one of the most followed threads in this forum? Grin

Here is a good troll by Satoshi Lite few hours ago https://twitter.com/SatoshiLite/status/998418013979226112. At first I though he really is serious and then I realized he's got no Litecoins anymore. Just kidding though. Grin

Litecoin is also on the voting poll as default to be listed on Dx.exchange powered by Nasdaq. I think everyone should vote who wants to see LTC stronger and valuable much more than now. I think community can do this https://www.facebook.com/dx.exchange/app/126231547426086/?app_data=%7B%7D . This is the link I found somewhere to share with people here to do small effort.

Hence why any coin under .10c got massive spikes in volume last winter, newbs dont look at bitcoin price only usd price, dont understand that % gain is all that matters.

All I now is it is not gonna bode well...if consumer mining dies for LTC...currently the top Bitmain unit an L3+ is making 51c  a day for me...

I find it likely that IF this consumer mining pukes and than Bitmain jumps in for the summer with a new unit (the will mine) then offer in the late

fall....the price is really gonna take a hit....for LTC in that folk are gonna just say 'fu*k* this and do masternodes or go to pos coins...

you show that much 'centralization' and everyone is gonna walk and again...LTC and other scrypt-pow will suffer

It is not like all the consumer miners are going to run out on a pre-order for fall after watching Bitmain mine for 3-4 months alone with say

new equipment ...THEN offer crumbs...I just don't see it...and this will be reflected in a dump in price for all pow-scrypt coins IMHO, a big fall indeed...

the small consumer miners of any pow-scrypt or other ASIC OR GPU mineable coin are the 'cheerleaders' for that coin..you take away the 'cheerleaders'

and the only thing left, is centralized Bitmain ...mining and offering 4 month pre-orders...yeah..that is not gonna end well

monopolies always eat their young and blow up their own environment...seems this is the path...

anyway, my view for what it is worth...

Can we believe that the Litecoin mining period is over? According to recent posts in this topic is a strong indication that yes. In particular mining is not my area and I am only an art sympathizer, but in my opinion after the definitive termination of Litecoin mining we may come across a large increase in value due to scant and demand.

NO...IMHO that is...Bitmain is the main mnfg of about 90% or more ASIC's of any flavor..not just LTC and pow-scrypt....sha-256 and blake2b, etc

Thus no scarcity will be involved...just them taking over as a monopoly say of pow-scrypt...in that they probably have a better pow-scrypt miner in the works

and while they may not LIKE these LTC and pow-scrypt prices...they probably only pay at max 20% of the value of the equip and cheap electric

with them just supplying themselves for their own data halls...(small consumer miners are out) all the pow-scrypt profits would go to them or others as

big...

Thus, this comes to mind, how 'excited' will anyone be ...wanting to trade and promote LTC for example...if stuff in mining for pow-scrypt becomes this

centralized....add to the pre-order model where Bitmain mines for 4 months driving LTC difficulty up...(last time they did this 30%) then letting the

consumer get these same machines 5 months afterward.....again, with the pre-order $$$ benefits too boot, before shipping 4 months later

It will at that time be so obvious IMHO, that the price of LTC will dump...and people will stop playing the game...thus less value in LTC means less price

if folk, see this and see it 'played' in this manner by Bitmain or others...

so LTC will still be mined, but by centralized big boys like Bitmain who will make the chip/promote the chip and algo/and then mine the chip themselves

for the most part....so again, IMHO, without the 'consumer type hobby miner' 20 or fewer machines.....why would anyone promote this algo of pow-scrypt

or LTC etc? Folk again, IMHO, will move on to POS coins or Masternodes...and/or other algo's and coins...should they see my above 'dubious' claims

come to be.

On a good note, perhaps the dump of L3+'s has slowed.....less than 1% rise in difficulty last go around, however, I'm still unsure if Bitmain does not have

the 'supposed' 1.5gh miner in the works...(see above scenario) ....that in my view would be the sign to dump my hoard of LTC into something else entirely

Something has to 'break' to make consumer type mining (of the stuff that is out in the world NOW) worth mining and getting excited about..that means

price improvement....but not sure if that will to be...hope I'm dead wrong ..but I've been into mining coin since 2013...it is looking ugly indeed....

It doesnt look too well. Liquidity on the market has dried out and its still slowly drifting lower day by day.

Its interesting that after all those years, there is still no decent competition in ASICs manufacturing. I used to think other companies will see the huge market potential and jump into developing their own asics. But no, so far the monopoly is getting stronger :/

I believe in ltc and btc for probably the same reasons as everyone here; and I believe in privacy coins because there are many reasons to have 100% fungibility that have nothing to do with illegal markets

Hello Litecoin believers,

Our aim is to add value to the whole crypto community by giving the best user experience to analyse cryptocurrencies.

It would be really great help from your side if you can spend 60 seconds of your time and give us your valuable feedback for our two recent updates 1) Snapshot and 2) Colourful interface of Litecoin at: https://cointopper.com/coin/litecoin

Constructive criticisms are always welcome at CoinTopper.  Thank you!!

The trend of Litecoin is always following the trend. This coin has gone through many years of ups and downs. At least, it is not a coin that will return to zero. It is worth holding.

Eos will be one of it's kind in the near future. I'm looking forward to the end of the ongoing ICO. It's so close already! After this has happened there is only o e direction for Litcoin!

$4000 LTC is only a 220 to 250 billion market cap. Very small portion of 5 trillion dollars coming into crypto in the next few years... think big guys. You will kick yourself for not buying that extra 1 or 2 LTC when you remember how cheap it was in April

With the reasons and evidence you give, this can be a good replacement coin. But to do that, you must first attract strong community support, technological improvements must be effective and take special measures to stand alone. I'm waiting for that!
