Like, I can't remember my steemit account name, BECAUSE THEY MADE ME WAIT A F***ING WEEK before they activate my account.

And really? No password recovery? Because I forgot the password of my old account (WHICH HAD F***ING MONEY ON IT) and I guess I just have to lose my money forever, because they can't f***ing figure the basics of making a Proper f***ing website like everyone else.

The fail is further compounded, by the fact my Welcome email just says, "Hey you, welcome to Steemit!" I mean, would it really f***ing kill you just to tell me what my f***ing username actually is m8?

My name is not "hey you". Tell me what my f***ing name is. SAY MY NAME.

Again, further compounded. No customer support. So I'm just stranded I guess. I wanted to send some mean messages to my asshole traitor of a cousin, but now I have to calm down and wait a week first. What nunnery.

Further compounded: I can't simply login with my email, like every other f***ing website on the goddamn internet!

It's always a compounding of errors. People can't make it tarded in one way. The have to make it tarded in every single F***ing way!

F***!!!!!!!!

Tell me one good reason Steemit will ever be able to compete with Facebook. When the service is clearly ran by total tards!

Absolutely agree with the post above. Most blockchain-based applications don't allow for the recovery of passwords easily, and the fact that you didn't properly save your long password is the main issue. It's unfortunate that password recovery's not available there, but Steemit gave you ample warning to record your password- a precaution that would've saved your money. It's like generating an address on a hardware wallet and not writing down the seed and losing your funds after the wallet is stolen/destroyed.

If you're still interested in Steemit, write down your username and password for the future, and do so for all future sites or applications where this is necessary. Move on and learn from your mistakes.

the same thing happened with me but at that time I just registered in steemit and didn't post anything , ended up losing @SyGambler and creating @DrEdge
this is how their system work and the best thing to do with them is to either pick a password that you can remember or just record the password

it's understandable to rage if it was your first time  forgetting your password , but looking at your post it looks like this has happened with you twice   Tongue

Its also not like any other god damn website on the internet anyway, this is supposed to be based on the blockchain, not the google mail system

it is supposed to but it is not. in fact I would say steemit has nothing to do with the blockchain technology! I know it is a weird thing to say but here is the reason:
when you sign up, do you create a key pair and register yourself on the distributed ledger called STEEM blockchain? NO.
what you do is you sign up in the centralized database of the website called steemit.com and it is like any other website

when you make a post is your post stored in a decentralized way or on a blockchain? NO.
instead your post is stored in a centralized database like any other website such as reddit for example on a server somewhere.

the only part where the "blockchain" comes in is when payment is involved, which to be honest I find reddit's tipbot a lot better Cheesy
feel free to correct the two main points above, I am not a user of this platform I have only checked it out.

Steemit isn't directly involving payment,it's more a system to reward bloggers and article writers. You don't get paid when you post on reddit.Do you?
Absolutely agree with the post above. Most blockchain-based applications don't allow for the recovery of passwords easily
That's what it cost to have a decentralized blockchain based plateform.Deal with it or leave it.

I wouldn't say Steemit has nothing to do with blockchain tech, but yeah, it's really just a lot of mixed centralized features, using blockchain to record transactions/interactions. Most Steemit people probably don't own their own private keys either, they're just using the site like a blog and earning tokens and what not on it. But to be fair, it is the first blockchain-based social platform and it is successful, so power to Steemians and all that.

Personally, I gave up on Steemit. Used to spend a bit of time writing actual content, and actually "curating" (I hate that word) properly but it's impossible to compete now with Steemit cartels upvoting Resteeming and curating all among themselves to inflate earnings. I would say to just stop wasting time unless you're a pretty face who can post selfies all day for free upvotes. THAT actually works.

Oh and OP come on, if you didn't want to wait 1 or 2 weeks, you could have just paid to get it instantly. Spend some Bitcoin, why don't you?

If this thing do happen to you twice then its not really just a pure accident but rather you're really a careless person and we should not only have that habit on keeping important informations
to steemit alone but on all accounts and wallets we do create. "Always make a back up" because problems do exist no matter what. This would really be charged to experience
since you do know on how things works then you are fully aware on next time.

Sure, their system might have sucked, and I totally agree on some of your points. But what was the main cause of your problem again? Oh yea. You forgot your old password and you forgot your recent account's username. Their system might have sucked but you're still at fault here.

The account creation process will be greatly improved with the next hardfork, but it does seem like you should have just written down your login information.
I do agree that they could have at least mentioned your account name in the e-mail.

More info on what's going to change:

It is all our responsibility to make a copy of our every account so we could have backed up data when needed. Like Forgetting it, Steemit system may really sucks but that is how they build their brand and we can't do anything about it.

Plus another mistake you have made is you put some amounts. seriously? how could you add an amount to an account which is not yet activated?

Perhaps you remember what type of articles/posts you have on steemit and tell somebody with a steemit account to search and find them.Your username must be somewhere around those posts.I can't figure out any other way to find your username.I don't have a steemit account.I kinda hate this business model. It stimulates a lot of people to trick the system by fake upvoting.

The guy I posted on, his wall is full of spam and I have to scroll through hundreds of posts to find it. Maybe I will though.

For the other people, it is not truly my fault. Excuse me for assuming Steamit would be like every other website on the internet. Also, it is nothing like a wallet, really it is more like an exchange, and exchanges have ways to recover your password. Nothing on Steemit mentioned anything about private keys, so I never would have thought the accounts would be so serious.

It might be your mistake because you don't remember or record your password properly, which I know steemet is a good social media, because every content that is liked will be rewarded with steem coins, just like different Bitcoin is free steemet in all transactions that occur in Blockchain has no energy costs to mine just enough with the content posted, but steemet is now not too popular, maybe in the future steemet will compete with Facebook or other social media.

There are trade offs with decentralized systems that don't relay on centralized party. Same thing, as with bitcoin you have to know your private key or at least know where and how to get it in order to send your funds same thing with steemit.

As it goes for the username, try to go to steemit.chat (https://steem.chat) and ask in a nice way. People should point out to the mod/user that might be able to look into the situation and tell you the username when you tell them your email address. As steemit stores email + mobile phone + username in their database there is still a chance for you to get your username.

Yeah whole place needs to be more user friendly, it sucks but that it what it is since you are responsible to yourself. No 3rd party is responsible for you.
