Your thoughts and opinions please;
I'm a fan of the DGM method and hence, will always point something to a DGM pool, but was wondering, now that difficulty is as it is, are you...

a) splitting hashrate between pools
b) combining all hashing power to one pool

This is not a poll, i'm looking for constructive comment and opinion.
I understand that splitting hashrate shouldn't really make much difference to your mined BTC, I'd just like to hear some opinions on the matter?

In the past, i've always opted not to put 'all my eggs in one basket' but now thinking it may be more prudent to use all my hashing power combined in one pool that difficulty is perpetually rising.

thanks in advance.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Right now I split my miners between BTC Guild and Eligius pools. I figured by doing so I cover @40% of the mining being done. It helps if one or the other has bad luck and works great when they both have good luck. It seems I make a small amount more on BTC than Eligius as I have the same amount of hashing on both pools so I can compare.

thanks...
I do 1/3rd Eligius, 1/3rd Guild and 1/3rd Bitparking.

It seems, the only payout which tends to be outside of the average, tends to be bitparking (DGM), but then again, that depends on the round length within that pool... shorter rounds are more lucrative, while long rounds can be worth doing as miners who don't understand DGM hop off (presumably on account of round length), and these hoppers shares become dust for those who remain. I haven't got a spreadsheet of exact numbers, but may draw one up over the next week or so.. if I find the time...

I'm currently doing the same as you with my farm of various gear 1/3rd on Bitparking, 1/3rd on Eligius, and 1/3rd on BTCGuild. I have some BE Blades that don't like the load balancing configuration and their overall hashrate drops if I try this with them. They are currently pointed at BTCGuild, although I move them around some.

It is hard for me to sit still though. A month ago or so I had 100% on Bitparking, but the variance was painful since I like to have coins to play with on a regular basis.

it's my block erupter cubes which are pointed at bitparking - hashrate is very stable. My line is thinking, considering difficulty, is that come next rise, it may be time to combine the whole rig and point it at a single pool. I'll be stuck to choose tho, don't suppose it makes much of a difference... as long as I won't mind the delay in payouts, i'll probably go with bitparking... but then again, it's a bit like scottish independence vote (i'm scottish), i'm like, 'pah, i'll decide which box to cross on the day of the vote' anyway, going off on a tangent now...

I've only got a total of 200GH just now, until Hashfast decide to send me my babyjet + upgrade, so what to do with 1TH come end of march? I reckon i'll be pointing it at a single pool. indecisive, as ever lol also, I realise i'm not going to be making any huge amount of money from my bitcoin mining (before anyone trolls in), it is just a hobby, while I am always looking for shops and online outlets to spend them. I noted a post today about a health food shop accepting BTC, so my next purchase, i'll probably buy some vitamins or something, just for the heck of it.

I have the same dilemma. Picking one pool out of those is difficult, but it would probably be BTCGuild based on my past experiments that have shown its payout is higher than eligius over enough time. I'd much prefer Bitparking though if it had more hash. I was excited (I guess I can use that word if getting excited about anything bitcoin is possible) when BTCGuild announced the possibility of adding more merged coins and disappointed when he changed his mind about that. GHash.io would be the best option for merged mining and variance, but I can't in good conscience put significant hash power there. Not that I have significant hash power, but significant for me.

Technically, it doesn't make any difference where you mine, a given hashrate will produce a given number of Bitcoins over time. The large pools offer less variance. Pool fees are not all the same but the difference isn't real significant.

Assuming all pools in question are honest and the payout method does not penalize you for your hash rate or possible connectivity problems (theirs or yours), etc.
