The new updates on Google again hit the crypto headlines due to its ban on cryptocurrency mining apps on Play Store. Play Store, the pre-installed Android based app will no longer feature crypto mining apps for the crypto enthusiasts. The developer policies of Google Play Store have completely prohibited the cryptocurrency mining apps which supposedly feature disruptive ads.

Amidst this stringent measure, the company has still considered giving permission to those apps which focus on remotely handling crypto mining. Android's digital distribution services has previously released update that led to the banning of all apps pertaining to fake ID.

I didn't get it. If the user understands what he is doing with the mining app then Google has no right to ban those genuine mining apps completely. I agree that mining on a smartphone is not much rewarding as compared to that of mining using advanced rigs but still, the user is doing it on his own responsibility. I can understand if Google stops featuring such apps in their Editors Choice section but putting the ban without justifiable reason is not acceptable.

None of those apps are telling the users the truth.
And truth was that for the most app there was barely any mining done and the apps were full of ads, that's how the "devs" were earning tons of money and you were just destroying your phone.
There was no warning about what 24/h mining would do to your phone and battery, there was no warning you're going to earn 2 cents a year.

Those apps were used just to promote shitcoins and tricking newbies.
Goodbye and good riddance!

Correct. It's almost impossible to utilize a mobile device's performance/power for mining (mining takes a lot, A LOT of power/performance). Mobiles/Tablets/Laptops/Low-end computers cannot be used for mining.

Nice decision by Google. Mining apps are nothing but crap providing you a very few cents/satoshis by showing you annoying ads all the time.

androind devices are not designed for mining. it would kill th battery and fry the CPU

is the OP stuck in 2012, back when webbrowser extensions / home mining was a temporary thing

honestly if people think they can mine bitcoin using a phone.. have obviously not done thier research

google isnt stopping anything real.. its stopping the scams that pretend they are mining but really they are spyware and trojans

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.

Really? I don't think it's worth installing apps in your smartphone to earn pennies mate. If you want to mine consider investing in a more suitable device. You're only burning your phone for cents you cant even use to pay the data you are using in your phone.

It's good that google is taking an action against fake apps that claims they are mining. Anyway, will this include those crypto apps which lets you generate coins by exercising? Isn't that considered as "mining" the coins?

I heard the news before. But i can't understand why they did this. As far as i know Google has no right to ban cryptocurrency mining app. So it’s not justifiable.

I am atleast in google's side on this matter, all those creepy apps that claim to mine bitcoin from your phone, free bitcoin ponzis are really headache for many users. Many of them are there to just show you ads and they will never pay you and some even ask you to send few bitcoin to upgrade your miner or similar bullshit.

From my point of view its not amatter of concern. Google just ban mining app from play store. As far I know it temporary they will fixed it very soon. It will not affect in the crypto currency market I believe.

I do not think it will affect the market very much. It's not so easy to pay for mining from mobile devices.

This is a bit frustrating since we can mine using smartphones. We need to look a bit further and see if this really is the case or not.

If the user understands what he is doing with the exploit application, Google does not have the right to completely ban those genuine mining applications. Most exploit applications are just scams that contain a lot of ads. and eat a lot of your time.

Good. Those never really amounted to anything, from what I heard. Never tried using them. For all the effort and the risk of frying my device, I would have just bought bitcoins from an exchange during a dip and held it. Easy peasy.

Also, Google owns the platform, they can ban whatever they want. There used to be apps that allows Youtube to play in the background even when the phone is locked. That didn't sit well with Google's marketing plans so they banned them.

If these are legitimate projects, the devs can just release an .apk.

If the user understands what he is doing with the mining app then Google has no right to ban those genuine mining apps completely.

None of those apps are telling the users the truth.

Haha yes, better just make your own app that'll earn you ads rather than install those. Who knows what malware your phone might contract.

there is no "genuine mining applications" for your cell phone and play store is for android phone applications not PC. so there is no point in allowing applications that are not possible to even exist.

I second that opinion. Google play store is actually overburdened with loads of mining apps now and 99.99% of them doesn't do any good. I tried few of them when I started my crypto journey without any luck. It's better to have a clean marketplace instead of these useless apps.

Wait they are dictating what can be sold/downloaded on their platform.... How dare they.  Roll Eyes

I was about to pull out my first gen iphone and go to town earning so many satoshis I could buy another next week when it dies.

That will just be one less delusion out there about mining BTC, mind you it has been alomost 3 months since I saw a post about mining on a phone. If only we could get people to update their websites as well to let people know you can't CPU/GPU mine anymore.

They are taking actions with these mining apps but they aren't taking actions with the phishing sites and fake websites that has been advertised by them.

If this is the start of them stepping in with these apps, I hope they'll next those fake websites that mainly targets crypto newbies.

Exactly, they can’t control that scam sites from spreading. Well this is quiet not new because google always make ways to do shit things on cryptocurrency. Its quiet unfortunate that they are preventing this technology from making a good run in this market, well they can’t do this on cryptocurrency forever.
