Its good that we've now got a moderator over in the altcoin subforum however we still need additional moderators in:

Bitcoin Discussion
Economics
Project Development

Bitcoin Discussion is only covered by Hilariousandco or is a global moderator and probably has more than enough on his plate. Similar to the situation Mprep was in before Welsh was added. Economics sub forum is one of the more popular attractions for spammers and should probably have a dedicated moderator. Project development has way too many icos and advertisements in there and would benefit from another moderator there.

An election how? By a simple strawpoll? Surely no one would cheat that way ./s..

Honestly, there really is no way to hold an election 100% fairly on this forum,  and even if it were possible, i don't really see the upside for it.

What's wrong with the current method of adding new moderators ( adding users who have helped the forum significantly already, by reporting etc..)

Someone with a high reporting success badge. Oh wait, Theymos hasn't announced the awards yet. Well it just shows how forward thinking he is. Smiley

There has been votes in the past: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1685557.0

However, that particular link was for promoting an already existing staff member to a global moderator. As you can see from the disclaimer in that thread its an unofficial vote, and doesn't guarantee any results based off of the vote. Theymos likely already has people in mind for hiring as staff members though, and its likely that they are the ones reporting in these sections actively.

I'm pretty sure that there has been elections for local board staff members, and they have been considered.

Mitchell was the moderator for the Project Devolopment section before, don't know if he still is bexause his name no longer shows up, I  would only have to assume he became a patroller.
