What are some of the best movies based on gambling? My favorite is Rounders. What about you ?

There are a lot of movies revolving around gambling, one of my favorites are 21. I think that is the first movie that I've watched that is really all about gambling. The other movies I love is not about Gambling but there are some moments there about gambling that I love.

Focus and The Hang over has some gambling moments that I will never forget. I don't really like Gambling genres since we all know how will they end up, trouble on the casino or either with their families and friends.

Yes 21 is an excellent movie, actually me and my friends planned to visit the real casino that time we refer some movies in our list my best movie is 21 superb screenplay and ideas are incredible but in real time those ideas will not work but one strategy helped us. in 3 card game how the group of friends can cheat casino we tried but we failed.

I enjoyed reading this thread because I have small knowledge about different casino movies. And the list in IMDB made it easier for me to see the list. My favorite movie that is about gambling is 21, and I liked it very much because of I like math also, somewhat I would want to try that but it's not right.

I have seen this movie and can vouch that it's a great one for gamblers to watch! Very entertaining. I  also have seen 21 and that one wasn't too bad either. However, one of my favorite gambling scenes is actually from the first Hangover movie. I thought it was super awesome when Zach Galifianakis went to the casino and was doing the card counting.

Please keep in mind that those lists were not made by IMDB itself, but by its users. That's why there are a lot of poorly made (at least from my point of view) movies in there. There are some good movies there too though.

I really like 21. It is a movie obviously on blackjack, this kid who is a genius on math faces a university professor who gathers all the math savy kids of the school and they go to vegas every weekend and count cards and make a ton of money. It goes like that for a while and than it goes downhill from there. I found the acting really well and they looked like they knew what they were doing as well. Fun movie to have a look.

Other than that, I have enjoyed hang over part 1 on its casino scenes. Even the major part of the movie was happening in vegas, the comedian's performance in casino was my favorite. He won as per he promised later on the final scenes they counted how much they have won. Somewhat casino based movie whereas giving some satisfaction like we involved into that.

I agree with you, 21 is also one of the best movies based on gambling.

Judging by these responses it seems nobody actually watched the movies they are talking about.

Casino Royale was a James Bond movie, it wasn't about gambling. There was only 1 scene that took place at a casino. It wasn't centered at all around gambling.

Also Ocean's 11 Series is another example. It was basically a bunch of guys trying to rob a casino, the premise didn't have anything to do with gambling.

Good gambling movies are basically Rounders and 21. Those are mostly entirely centered around gambling.

Another example is a movie called "The Gambler" with Mark Walberg, it was about gambling however it was very stupid movie actually.

Nice topic that you got here mate.  When I saw your question for the first time, two things that popped out of my mind are Ocean's Eleven and 21. Yes, they are not the best out there but they are decent movies that has gambling theme in it. If you didn't watch any of these two, I would recommend you to spare some time and see them.

Released in 2018 and starring Jessica Chastain, I would highly recommend this flick for any gambling movie enthusiasts.

It's based on a true story and keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout.

I really enjoyed that movie. The true story of a woman behind one of the exclusive high-stakes underground poker game in the World. I recommend everyone to watch this movie. Another one of my favorite is 21.

My favorite movie about gambling is 'High Roller'. This is a real story about Stu Ungar - an outstanding American poker player. He is the only poker player who won the main tournament of the World Series of Poker three times as a result of the tournament game. The film demonstrates failure, falling and climbing, love and hate, temptation and more what every poker player is facing, and just each of us.

I think Casino is a great movie.  It doesn't focus too much on the gambling itself but how Vegas used to be run by mobsters and they would participate in shady activities.  Robert DeNiro really makes this film stand out with his acting.

Other honorable mentions would be the Ocean's trilogy and Rounders.  My favorite Ocean's movie is 13, you can't go wrong with Al Pacino and the mission they pull off is much larger than the first two movies.

There is also rounders which is a great movie based on poker games. Edward Norton is playing and he is great in it as a person who got out of jail because of some shady poker things he did before, however the main character is Matt Damon and he has a great arc and he plays poker not for just making money but to get the respect he desires and I think by the end of it he realizes he doesn't need the respect but he needs that self respect to himself not by others.

At the end there is no plot twist, you get what you expect Matt Damons character wins in a big poker game and leaves the movie on a high note.

Petty on all of them who are just supporting this cause. People you need to understand that this betting is luck. You can’t just make anything better for your life assure, until you aren’t good in skills and experience. Better for you to make your life happy and prosperous just by doing some respectable job. You have to keep on finding good jobs and please refrain yourself from this.

My favorite contraire movies are Cincinnati Kid with Steve McQueen and  Edward G. Robinson and the movie "21".
The first one shows the portrait of an addicted (poker) gambler, who is close to defeat the best poker profi and risking anything on the last move.  The second one Tell entertaining a true story in which a university professor with his student "won" millions of dollars at the casinos.

No doubts that Run Lola Run is a great movie worth watching, not once, but over and over again. I watched it several times when I was younger and was more inclined to believe in fairy tales. And today, although my views have been changed, I would watch it again with pleasure because, related to real life or not, it's a great story and fantastic movie. However, it would be wrong to say that this movie is based on gambling, even partially. The only gambling scene in Run Lola Run lasts around 5 minutes and shows not gambling as it is, but rather a craziest dream of a gambling addict. You can watch it from the link below.
