A recent Gallup poll shows the early adopters of Bitcoin among American investors.

2% might not sound like it's a lot but it's a very good start for such a new investment category. The question is what else needs to be done to get that 2% number higher?

You can read about the poll and the other results of the survey here: https://bitcoinist.com/quarter-us-investors-intrigued-bitcoin-poll/

For no-coiners to enter the crypto market it should be a lot easier to buy crypto's. I'm afraid its still to technical for them, wallets, exchanges etc.

What would your suggestion be?

You're absolutely right that the technical aspects are what turn a lot of people off Bitcoin and we need to make it easier to increase adoption. Also I saw that Vitalik Butern of Ethereum made a point that it should be super-easy to buy $5-$100 of cryptocurrency to ensure more people get into it and I agree with that as well.

Given America is a developed country, this poll came off as a shock. The numbers should have been way higher than a mere 2%. The government needs to get to the core and see why the numbers are so less.

This just Poll's. We don't have actual data on Demographic, if we base only these data on American Investors, what are the actual figure's on Investors, are we referring Bitcoin investors? we should qualify our data for comparative analysis. we can take these as a negative data but we never had a general idea on how much American Invested in Bitcoin, it is Decentralized system, so we never know the demographic of all the investors in Bitcoin. I believe it is more than 2%.

all depends on who was polled.
go to a fiat investment firm that legally can only invest in regulated FIAT investments. your guaranteed low results.

go to a place where its individuals doing penny stocks, shares, assets and commodies and other investments where they have more flexibility of choice and the poll would be different

its like going to a gay bar. 99% of people that drink beer are gay
go to an average bar.. 15% of people that drink ber are gay
go to a bar designated for racists and homophobes.. 0% of people that drink beer are gay

a better poll would be to find out how many americans are investors
gallop says 54% of americans invest(separate poll)

then work out how many americans own bitcoin
survey monkey says 5% of americans have bitcoin

making it over 9% of american investors have bitcoin

2% for the world's largest economy is actually an encouraging number for a new asset class like bitcoin. The population is 1.3 billion and it is estimated that around 0.8 million people own bitcoin, so the percentage is around 0.61%. So comparing this, 2% is certainly an encouraging numbers. However, with time it needs to be increased.

The increase in oercentage is only possible with clear legal framework and increased merchant adoption. Unless bitcoin and other cryptos can be used as a currency or a legal tender, the growth will be slumped. Investment is ok but a currency should be used as a currency to help its growth.

To be honest, it is really hard to accept the fact that only 2% of them owns BTC. In my opinion, the number is heavily understated for some reason. Even if the survey result is accurate, there can be a huge rise in number given that the next few hearings on Bitcoin ETF goes in favor of the crypto community. Many big investors are likely to join the market and the number will increase too.

where is your maths.
where you getting 1.3billion.. where are you getting 0.8mil own bitcoin.

its 2% of american investors.
so 325mill population(america).. 54% are investors.. which is: 175mill american investors.
2% of that basd purely on that article results in 3.5 million americans have bitcoin

If it is only 2% in America then it astounds me to even think how much it will be in other countries. This result shows that there are still huge possibilities with Bitcoin. With the recent news of various countries accepting BTC, SEC delaying the hearing for Bitcoin ETF I think more people will get interested which in turn will help the percentage to increase.

2% of American investors - what does that mean - investors? I bet of the general population, more like .2% of US citizens actually own any bitcoin.

2% of the population of American investors might not look a lot but that 2% have the abiloty to pursuade or convince other people to join them especially when Bitcoin is on another Bull Market again. We saw how the market participation increased instantly when Bitcoin jumped unbelievable numbers and long time holders received unbievable gains. We both see and increase of traders and investors on datas relating to number of members creating accounts on cryptocurrency exchanges. Another bull market will pursuade the bigger population to join the 2%.

I think people are hiding and don't wanted to disclose their identity of be part of bitcoin investors. This may be due to d fact that American has not legalize partaking in bitcoin but am sure there are lot of citizen that partake in bitcoin but hiding their identity

I think its an assumption. For me 2% is not a small amount. A lot of people live in us and already 2% are engaged. I think in future it will catch more people. When EFT is approved by sec more people will try to engage this platform.

You really have to be a nerd or have some interest in computers to get into Crypto and manage wallets etc. Make it more accessable somehow and this % could easily get to 10%. Although, 2% is what 6 Million Americans?

Although this poll is somewhat informative I do not think it captures all the Bitcoin American users and in fact I suspect the number is much higher. Even so though, we need to make Bitcoin accessible to nearly everyone and that just means more investment to making the steps into crypto easier.

That's quite reasonable. Do you expect Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos will invest their money to enter into the crypto business just because high rate of return? I( mean they surely will show interest to invest but not that much.

The link has some good opinions. But to make Bitcoin more than 2%, I think Bitcoin will be more secure. Bitcoin has to be more easy and technological improvements than ever. But it is certain that Bitcoin's future potential.

In my opinion, now, due to the fact that the rate BTC is falling, the growth of investment in bitcoin has slowed. But already in terms of circulation this cryptocurrency is included in the TOP 5 world currencies.

Well it's still shows a good percentage despite the problems bitcoin had face. American knows what system could help them and I'm just so happy that there's still 2% who believe in bitcoin. It's just amazing that bitcoin is receiving the trust it needs to perform. I hope that those percentage will get high and rise as well.

Well honestly that number might be too low but if you will analyze deeper then you will realize that the number is still good. We all know that bitcoin is still developing so having a trust from 2% of americans is already a good number to start. I hope that time will come for that number to rise and get high. It would be awesome to have many americans in this system.
