Does anyone know of a program available that can either:

Work with different coin wallets to pull only recent blocks.  For something like Bitcoin, the blocks from the current difficulty, and the 2016 from the previous difficulty, would be all I would need.  That alone would not be difficult to do, but I need something that is easily adaptable to other coins.  Ones using a gravity well, or other method of quickly changing difficulty, would still need a sample size of the last few thousand blocks.

Or, a program that does not work with a wallet in any way, but could easily be adjusted, or modified, to achieve these goals, without needing to be completely rewritten for each coin.

I know there are a few websites that will provide this functionality, but I do not want to rely on a 3rd party.

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Even one that can do this for only Bitcoin, or only some other currency, would be helpful.
