In the neighborhood of the city of Magdeburg, there is a huge mining cooperation, K+S GmbH, who now wants to destroy more then 200 hectare of woods, replacing it by another monstrous mountain of "salty" mining residue, even when this is forbidden by the European union, claiming that there is no (cheaper) alternative, basically for not ending up in even bigger financial trouble than they're already in.

That the forest is a German "Landschaftsschutzgebiet", that animals living there are protected under European laws (e.g. FFH-Gebiet Fledermausquartier Bunker Dornberg) and that they're planning to dump their waste up until 500 meters from a beautiful fairytale castle (www.heinrichshorst.com) under German "Denkmalschutz", doesn't seem to be a problem for them at all.

On top of this, their current plans are threatening to increase the pollution of ground water, which serves as drinking water in the surrounding area and in the region around Magdeburg.

They're also stocking thousands of tons of "Sondermüll" (garbage which is dangerous for health and/or the environment), in abandoned tunnels that could otherwise be used to put back the mining residue. Keeping the situation at the mine in Morsleben, a nearby village (30 minute drive from Heinrichshorst) in mind, we fear that they might even plan to dump radioactive waste (they already have a railroad through the area).

So the situation really looks extremely bad!!!

BUT there are alternatives and we need to fight hard, in order to force K+S GmbH to change their plans!

We need quite some money to pay for geological expert advice, lawyers, consultants, et cetera,
so BTC donations at 1EqG6eKwLZiAcMZMJgq6K85JFpopHivrud are very much appreciated!!

And please SIGN & SHARE our petition?
https://secure.avaaz.org/en/petition/The_German_government_To_stop_Kaliwerk_Zielitz_of_destroying_more_than_200_hectare_of_woods/?fkdaGgb

Thanks a lot in advance for your support!!

Many greetings from,
the people living in the Heinrichshorst area

Das ist im deutschen Subforum und ihr wollt deutsches Land schützen?

Warum dann das Posting nicht in deutsch?

Außerdem wie soll Geld  dabei helfen?!

Hier versucht warscheinlich wieder jemand gutmütige Spender auszunutzen. Ich würden hier nichts spenden. Das Geld landet zu 90% in die eigene Tasche anstatt ins Projekt...

Indeed, because we live there.

Warum dann das Posting nicht in deutsch?
Because we don't speak German very well yet.

Originally from Belgium, my family and I moved to this wonderful place,
which is now being threatened to be destroyed by a multinational.

Außerdem wie soll Geld dabei helfen?!
Our battle will cost a lot of money, so any financial support will help.

Hier versucht warscheinlich wieder jemand gutmütige Spender auszunutzen. Ich würden hier nichts spenden. Das Geld landet zu 90% in die eigene Tasche anstatt ins Projekt...
This is a real battle for nature, led by people who really care about this planet.

So we can promise you that every satoshi will be spent on our campaign against this outrage!

What do you want to do with the money?
How are you planning to "battle" them?

You will destroy a lot of new jobs if you stop this project. This is really stupid- people complain about "finding no job" but on the other side they try to stop every company from increasing business, building new power lanes, etc..

I bet that this company HAS TO plant new trees somewhere else...

We are already hiring geological experts and lawyers to fight this on a national and European level.
If you read my first post carefully, you will understand that there are many subjects where something can be told.

You will destroy a lot of new jobs if you stop this project.
Not at all. Jobs are already at risk and alternative solutions could even promise work for a longer time.

Who is complaining?

but on the other side they try to stop every company from increasing business, building new power lanes, etc..
Increasing business at the expense of everything else doesn't seem right to a lot of people, including us.
Hey, and if it's all about getting maximum profit, maybe we should allow child labor again??

I bet that this company HAS TO plant new trees somewhere else...
Yes, of course, problem solved.

Drinking water of thousands of people contaminated? Not a problem!

But we get that you're seeing things differently, and we understand that as well, so let's leave it at that.

This is germany. We dont have  contaminated drinking water. Drinking water is the best controlled nutrition in Germany.  We have good filtres and cleaning technology.

I have a better Idea:

Lets ban all businesses from germany, because they pollute the air. Even if its just CO2.

Thats a great idea isnt it?  Oh shit - no jobs anymore...

We're happy that you see it that way. Where did you get your info?

Read the  Trinkwasserverordnung.

Trust me. Tap water is the only "food" that they check every hour/every day for the quality. You dont need to buy bottled water here.

There are even a lot of cases that they found out that the bottled water has a worse quality then the tap water. The tap water is the best here. (seriously)

It's not that we don't want to believe you, but also believe us when we say that in our region things are seriously going wrong. Really. It is even calculated that, because of the mining residue, the "salty" compounds of the ground water may rise up to more than 10 gram per liter, while the currently allowed limit for drinking water is only 250 milligram per liter. That is quite a difference! And I'm sure they will do everything to get the percentages back within range, but that also costs money. On top of this, think about what the unfiltered contaminated water does to the environment. It's really destructive, especially over a longer period of time.

Well, no new jobs candoo. Guess it's just a new mining waste dump to get rid of waste salt from there.

Indeed just cons for the region:
- nature destroyed
- a nice waste dump
- tap water price will increase in case the water supply company has to install additional filter technology
- taxes payed in Kassel, all these companys give a damn sxxt on the region

bugm, I'm sorry to say that, but you've choosen the wrong place in Germany. Welcome to the Sachsen-Anhalt! Lips sealed

I'm 100% sure it will not change anything, but will sign the petition.

We germans need the good water for our wellknow german beer - you know "Oktoberfest" in Munich?
Originally we're from Belgium, so we know quite a lot about beer as well.
And yes, we do know about Oktoberfest and many other similar beer events in Germany.

But let's talk about beer in some other thread.
