Bigger, better, and more serious this time around! What originally started as a "what if?" has grown into something with serious focus and a lot of excitement!
Previous ANN: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4519924.new

Tuxcoin had no premine - Miners have been supporting our cause from the start!

Tuxcoin is a cryptocurrency intended to support Open-Source Software projects. Tuxcoin is Proof-of-Work utilizing the low-power consuming, ASIC-resistant Allium algorithm. Support of OSS projects comes in the form of donations to projects the community chooses and votes on. The project teams that receive donations are free to do with the cryptocurrency as they will. These donations will further encourage OSS growth and adoption which is a key component to our digital future.

Best Dev Team in Crypto -HANDS DOWN!

Come join our discord

https://discord.gg/Fcmsx9s

We have some Awesome pools - Pick your flavor!

NOMP - NoBS Pool - http://nobspool.rocks/

Easiest of all the pools and NoBS donates a fair amount of his profits to the exchange fund

MPOS - Cryptorat - https://cryptorat.pw/index.php

MPOS - my favorite type of pool,  lots of great information.

YIIMP - tuxtoke  - http://yiimp.tuxtoke.life/

YIIMP - again lots of good info, although I like the worker system better in MPOS

We definitely need pools to help decentralize the coin!

One of our devs even set up a basic NOMP pool fork:

Clarify the following phrase. "Tuxcoin Proof-of-Work uses the low-power, Allium-resistant ASIC algorithm." Why low-power? In my understanding, low power is weak and very slow.

For example. A lightly overclocked 1070ti will hash at 4.9 Mh/s and only about 90 watts of power usage.

I wouldn't call that weak or slow.

How is this different from any other coin?

The biggest thing right now is that we are donating to open source projects. However in the future we plan to add more features such as easy messaging via the block chain.

When we donate to Open-Source projects we will be applying the value of the currency to the real world. And, as the value goes up the donations will mean more and more to those projects.

very good point. there are so many "asic resistant" algos out there it is almost hilarious.  not even zcash devs didn't manage that very well.

The thought of a coin supporting OSS projects intrigues me. I'm interested in seeing how the community develops around that vision. Wish the best to this coin!

EDIT: I've created a pool for this coin! Join me in mining to support open source software!

Name: Mags Pool
Website: tuxpool.mikemagss.com
Payout Interval: Daily (24 hours)
Fee: 1%

Mining script example (ccminer):
ccminer --algo=allium -o stratum+tcp://tuxpool.mikemagss.com:3433 -u <YOUR MINING ADDRESS>

Happy mining! Smiley

Just started mining and am really digging Mags pool. I prefer pools that payout daily so I don't have consolidation issues later

Looking forward to seeing this coin grow!
