Cannot Merit a Post

I wanted to send the translator a few merits, I got the error that I could not merit this post!

I've only seen that error on Anonymous posts before - why am I blocked for meriting this post?

Yeah, can confirm that. I sent a merit too. No issues with that.

You don't need to actually click the send merit button... if it allows to enter a value it works.

I simply get the error I can't send merit with no text box and no button.

I kind of had the same problem and made a thread about it a few months ago.  I never figured out what the problem was.  Some people found out they could merit it, but I wasn't able to.

Edit:  Just FYI, check out the thread that I linked.  It's a really good glimpse at what was going on here in 2012 and evidence that bitcointalk was a scammer's paradise even back then.  The drama was sort of what drew me to bct in the first place.

Hahaha.  I didn't re-read the whole thread, but I did just now.  So I guess if I had the board on ignore, it wouldn't let me merit it.  I don't remember getting that answer, but it was obviously given by Theymos.  Silly me, and thank you for pointing that out.

If people straight out call me a moron, I won't argue with them.  Sometimes I wonder why I was given two eyes or why I'm not swimming around in a pond instead of walking the streets.

Permissions and ignored-boards can also cause info to be missing per-user. In this case I think that it happened because The Pharmacist is ignoring the board in which that post resides.

The ignored-boards page says, "Be advised that by ignoring a board it will be completely inaccessible to you." How it works is that almost all forum systems view you as being not allowed to see the board, just like hidden boards. This is also why you can't quote a post in an ignored board.
