I have an idle ATI 5770 that I would like to mine with. However, I do not have a motherboard, memory module(s) and CPU to make a complete system.

I have a spare PC or two. What kind of partnership are you looking for (apart from the pedofile bit )? What's the hashrate of this one?

I've got an empty slot I could throw it in but I reserve the right to mail it back if I come across a 5970 that I end up buying.

I'm fairly certain the generated coins from a 5770 wouldn't cover electricity or rental of the computer.

I'm fairly certain the cost of generating with a 5770 doesn't cover electricity or rental of the computer.
If you decide to co-op with me, you wont have to pay the electricity, since I dont have to pay, too.

I'm just worried if it covers it's own electricity and profits something because I've got room for it at the moment. I'm not 100% sure it's worth it for me right now I'd have to do the math.

This is a good idea. Is this common? I thought about doing it with a spare 5830 I have, but it seems like you would really have to trust the person.

You don't have to trust them any more or less than any other transaction like selling something to them really. I suppose you could have a few other issues where they say it breaks or whatever but if they're not going to pay you for the % that it helps then they're not going to pay you for anything else you sell them.

The only difference is that you have to send them a card without receiving payment first and then have that recurring trust that they will allow it to mine for the both of you.

Yeah, but if you compare buying a card where you could possibly send money and not get a card or get a bad one it seems about the same. I think people in general are either going to rip you off or they're not. Personally I'd rather get the card and pay half the profits back than pay 100% of the cost up front and hope I don't get ripped off. I'm not talking about this card specifically just in general.
