I have seen that most RX 580s have diifculty getting recognized on Linux based OSes and you mostly have to run them on Windows.
I have 3 RX 580s running on windows right now but the power consumptions are ~150W per card for 29MH/s ETH and ~90MH/s LBR.

Would SimpleOS be good to try for better results? Just looking for an opinion on this from those who have tried.
what linux os were you having trouble with?

Vosk, I have been following your videos very closely and started my first rig build.  It is an eight GPU 1050ti rig with the exact same hardware as the one you and Corbin built.

I am having issues with the USB after burning the Nvidia smOS.  I am using the 32GB USB 3.0 Lexar and 64GB USB 3.0 Lexar.

The USB is not recognized by the rig.

When plugging the USB into my PC I am prompted to format the USB and am also notified that the USB is having problems.

I have tried formatting the USBs and reflashing with the smOS image several times on three different Lexar USB sticks.
All USBs when connected to a PC after flashing prompt a problem notification.  All three USBs sticks are not visible when plugged into the rig.

Any insight on fixing this would be greatly appreciated as I have my entire rig put together but dont have an operating system to run it!

PLEASE HELP

Just ignore the fact windows says it has a problem and needs to be formatted

For the rig is it the only hard drive plugged in? SmOS is an OS so it’s stand-alone my rigs simply have a usb plugged into them / it’s not something you can use on top of windows unless you boot into the usb instead of booting into windows

Unplug your HDD/SSD, got to bios, make first boot option USB.

So with SmOS there is no need for a boot drive for the miner pc? or Windows at all?

Thanks Vosk for all you have been contributing.
Hoping that Tails is hanging in there.

Thank you! I really like this. This has been the hardest part for me, the config. I'd love to see more of these from you, including bminer.

Do you dual mine in SMOS? If so, would love to see your setting for this too.

Thanks

I am having a similar issue. After writing the IMG file to USB it disappeared from my computer. It's there, but I have no way of accessing the drive to edit the config.

I'm using macOS to format and the USB is a Lexar 32GB 3.0 with Nvidia smOS on it.

I've been troubleshooting the connection but I think it might have to do with macOS. Can't even boot to USB because the drive is not recognized.

Any ideas/solutions?
