So when is the movie coming-out...
I am sure all of this drama and FUD will make for a great movie, or a reality show...
Anyone want to help me write the script?
Should it be serious, a comedy, a horror story, a documentary, pure speculation (in the spirit of BTC itself), or just pure FUD (as if all the FUD were actual truth, and real)?
I'll take donations to get started. Make it a fully public world-wide event... But charge for "Day-One" private access before public release... then sell to the rights for those who still watch movies in theaters. Living forever in torrents and YouTube, after that.

BTC has been falling since before this started with gox... It is just people cashing-out... Just like normal.
No input on what path the movie should take?

Great minds think alike. I thought it would be a great 2-hour TV documentary though, not a movie. If a movie, then you'd need a series of movies. Make a movie based on the life of each major player: The first movie is based on Satoshi Nakamoto. Imagine an actor portraying him that never shows his face. The Sequel features the lives of some people who Bitcoins made millionnaires. I'd like to see a movie made about the developer of the Avalon miner. He's a Chinese American who took what may be the first ASIC design to Shenzhen (The Silicon Valley of China) and ended-up being robbed of his invention. A movie about MtGox... Sure lots of drama, hundreds of thousands of Bitcoins lost or stolen. Utter incompetence by Karpeles. A movie about the Silk Road.... Aaaaah... now you're talking... drug, sex... how the creator of the Silk Road was tracked and busted by the FBI. That one should be a blockbuster. I'd like to see Leonardo di Caprio play the leading role. I see a tear jerker in the making... In the MtGox sequel, let's make it about the rise and fall of the world's largest Bitcoin exchange and feature the life of this hapless British guy: He has lost his life savings to Karpeles. BTW... LOVE the proposed movie poster!! |

The Genesis Block
Featuring: Sylvestor Stallone, John Travolta, Tom Cruise, Orlando Bloom, and various teenagers, adults.
A movie about the beginnings of Bitcoin, the first miners, and how bitcoin developed, and how fortunes were made and lost on the bitcoin system.
A few wild scenes. Dramatize it with a few bitcoin-loss related suicides due to theft, lost wallets, etc. Someone ending up in a psych ward after truly forgetting his wallet passphrase. Some serious hardcore hacker action. Maybe a murder or two...or three, and plenty of laughter and tears.
It would be hilarious, whilst at the same time serious.

Don't forget a sequel filmed entirely in China. Wafer factory owners conspiring and getting filthy rich, factory workers stealing ASIC chips, female factory workers raped in their dormitories. Keep the ideas coming... Some Hollywood studio executive may stumble upon this thread., and see the potential.
