Where is the proof of theft? I don't see anything there listed as "Proof" or "Theft"... Just more FUD and half-assed CNN crap. (Repeating only what everyone already knows.) Nothing about the article involves Fear, Uncertainty, or Doubt. There is no doubt nor uncertainty that all of the funds that that person was in charge of, after many smaller scandals, are all gone now. The website is also down now. What exactly is it that you are waiting for, him to say "Yeah it was me! I stole all your shit!"? What constitutes proof for you? And honestly, if you are legitimately mild to moderately mentally retarded, I will understand, but if not, why are you still defending this clown?

Bitcoinica, inputs.io .. there is no need for any proof.
Remind me not to put you in my selection of peers for a trial by jury! Since we don't need proof... I say you stole our money... Throw you in jail. You do realize how crazy that makes you sound, and how much that hurts any credibility of your statements.. right? Lol. There is a pattern here, in the bitcoin world. I had no access to that money, Mark did.

So in your opinion, the facts here are that ONE PERSON said ONE OTHER PERSON stole money? Is that the only information you have seen or heard about the present situation? Or are we comparing apples to space shuttles here?

Gox under investigation by Japanese and US-authoritieshttp://www.coindesk.com/mt-gox-subpoena-japan-us/Is this sufficient to keep Mr. Karpèles in Japan? Are we even sure he still is? This picture of Tibanne, Mark's long time comrad and name sake of Tibanne Ltd., the holding company of MtGox, which was supposedly posted by Mark during a chat interview with one of Fox news journalists (that denied he was a journalist in the beginning of the interview ) gives some confidence that he is in fact still in Japan. The picture could have been taken any time though and only posted during said interview (which didnt contain much other information) to assure the public of his steady residence. http://www.wickedfire.com/shooting-shit/179038-my-conversation-mark-karpeles-mtgox-2.html#post2164682In addition to the above picture, his recent news update of 26th, Feb. 2014 on (mtg)gox.com states that he has no intention to run and remains in Japan. February 26th 2014
Dear MtGox Customers,
As there is a lot of speculation regarding MtGox and its future, I would like to use this opportunity to reassure everyone that I am still in Japan, and working very hard with the support of different parties to find a solution to our recent issues.

Sincerely, Mark Karpeles This recent article by Reuters on the other hand, casts doubts over his actual presence in his designated home in Shibuya District, Tokyo The concierge at his home - an upscale apartment in the Shibuya district - said he was not answering his intercom. His mailbox was so stuffed with mail that the flap would not close. http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/02/25/us-mtgox-website-idUSBREA1O07920140225

Reminds me of the Yifu Guo incident. People were calling for his head on a platter before he turned around and refunded everybody.

A half a billion dollars don't just go missing. And the timing with the New York regulation hearings is simply too coincidental for my tastes. He's either guilty, or has a gag order on him.
I'll remind people of the 500,000 BTC heist from a couple years ago. All Karpeles would have needed to do was leak a copy of the password database into the wild (just like this 'Crisis Paper' draft), and then sweep all those coins into his own wallet. I remember that quite vividly. And I remember the nebulous unbelievable explanation that came from GOX about it. Basically, the initial users signed up before password salting had been added. And they never changed their passwords after the salting was added. Who better than Karpeles would know how to exploit this? Motive, means, and opportunity.

Please do just that. From what I remember the 500,000 BTC account, which crashed btc down to 1 penny, was never fully addressed or explained by Mark. If you think otherwise please provide link(s) to document. Thanks.

Funny how Mark Karpeles more or less did the exact same thing as snowden (break all rules, use then betray the trust of others to fulfill his own childish ego, getting cheeky and not being straight with others, dropping and running at the first sign of real trouble), and people here are calling for his head Maybe the hypocrisy of the crypto-revolutionaries (who either don't know what the fuck they need to do, or just plain hypocritical in chasing after profits more than crypto itself while getting self righteous and mouthy pretending to be the next crypto jesus) got to him. Plus the fact is, he has a spine of a jellyfish. Either way, shouldn't you fools be cheering him for giving a black eye to a bunch of starry eyed, crypto fucks who mouth political slogans with one breath and happily dump on each other and small time players every chance they get? Now where did we see that before.... Not even bernie madoff was this quick and extreme in his ponzi scheme, yet most of those types of crypto-experts think they are the leading wave of history....until someone dumps on them for a change Wait, what's that? You want to prosecute them in court, call the cops, and run cryin to a lawyer? I thought you were too smart to 'depend on The Man'. I really hope you ain't stupid enough to get cheeky and say 'don't hate the player, play the game' LOL the irony is fuckin thick. You don't even realize how much more of a con you are yet it's always 'rah rah rah fite da powa'. Reading these forums is in many ways a great way to show people what to laugh at. Really.

I think everybody agrees that there is a high probability that Mark Karpèles will leave Japan to hide somewhere from law enforcement, his creditors or worse, possibly with 700k BTC in his wallet. Everybody that lost money in MtGox and the community as a whole should try to prevent that from happening. I lost myself a decent amount of money in there and at least I want answers from him and his associates in a future trial. For that, Mark's location must be known to local authorities and his departure from Japan prevented.
What ways to contact Japanese authorities are there? Pls provide email, tel. numbers to contact them immediately
Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department General Consultation Center by telephone (in English)
Contact : 81-3-3503-8484 Hours : Mon-Fri 8:30-17:15 Japan standard time is 9 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time. (UTC +09:00)
What further steps must be taken in order to convince authorities to flag his passport, issue an arrest warrant, etc.?
Im not calling for a witch hunt here! Mark as well as anyone enjoys the right to remain innocent until proven guilty. But in order to determine that, we have to make sure that all prerequisits are taken to proof his innocence, in other words: to further a trial to get some answers.
It's not just everyone who lost money, why do you think the US Government is after Mark and MtGox? If you remember back a month or so ago the US Government took a billion dollars out of healthcare and put it into Bitcoin. I suspect the US Government bought Bitcoin's on MtGox with some of that money and they too are trapped. Either that or the Federal Reserve bought coins at MtGox, some how the subpoena from NY has ties to either the Feds or the US Government otherwise they wouldn't have any interest in MtGox period. So I doubt Mark will be able to leave Japan. The second problem I have is with the amount of Bitcoin's they alleged where stolen, 740k, that's a lot of coins and even if you account for when MtGox opened its doors to Bitcoin that would amount to 490~500 coins being stolen a day. Now there either they are lying about the number or someone has been cooking their books. Likely its been Mark who's been cooking the books while he embezzled the money lining his pockets with it. Either way Bitcoin moves on, it's still moving, the other exchanges have been picking up the slack and once this whole thing blows over we'll start to see Bitcoin's price rise up again. Those of you have decided to run for cover and sell off your Bitcoin's will only kick yourself in the ass later.
