Hello all,

New here. I have a server with esxi with 2 x8 pcie ports (no x16) that I'm trying to get a pcie x16 gpu attached to. Now from my research online I see pcie mining riser card multipliers.  I see a lot from x1 to x16.  Would it be possible to use a pcie mining riser adapter and a external pcie x16 gpu array?  I'll be perfectly honest. I'm not into mining I just saw that this type of hardware is used in mining and thought this to be the best place to ask.  I'm just trying to get the most performance out of a x16 gpu in a server that doesn't support x16 pcie.  I'm concerned the pcie x1 will limit the data bandwidth.   Does anyone know of a x8 pcie riser card to run an external pcie x16 gpu in?  Anyone have any other suggestions?

Many thanks in advanced for taking the time to answer.
-Steve
