I wish there was a way to short bitcoins, could be making a killing here. I am glad that I waited to buy. Sale me those bitcoins for cheap Smiley

If you hold fiat cash, you are essentially shorting bitcoin.

Now if you borrow bitcoin, trade for fiat cash (like USD), and then pay back the same amount of bitcoin later, that would be shorting as well.

There are ways to short bitcoin, even naked shorting. It's not for the faint of heart but if look around here you can find a few sites where it is practiced.

https://campbx.com/ and https://www.bitcoinica.com/ both allow short-selling.

To short something, you need to be able to locate and borrow shares or units of the item to short.

In naked shorting you have not borrowed or located the money you need. It sounds crazy, but you are essentially betting with money you don't have.
