There's a quite old trick, a couple of months old already, I'm not sure if this is the one you are asking about. The guys post here and there "by mistake" the private key of ETH wallets. The wallets have a good number of tokens and no ETH. As soon as you want to steal from them and you send ETH to have gas, a smart contract sends away that ETH, leaving the "public" wallet again without ETH. Quite an elaborate scam...

If those scammers dedicated as much time to something constructive they could make a lot of money legally but instead they prefer to use their knowledge to scam, what you are describing is something that I never heard but thanks for letting us know, they make it seem as if they made a mistake when everything was planned beforehand and they want to take advantage of someone trying to take advantage over them.

It has been said several times in this forum that myetherwallet is no longer safe to check your tokens, otherwise you might get hacked.

If you want only to see what is the current content of your wallet, I find ethplorer.io the best option. I used myetherwallet only twice in my life...

MEW wallets have been the targets of several phishing attempts lately. If you are using MEW, then you must confirm that you are using the correct URL. Make sure that you have "MyEtherWallet Inc [US]" on the left side of the URL in your browser.

Any purse, not just ether now is not safe. Hardware wallets reduce the risk of loss, but are also threatened, a stock exchanges so I generally keep quiet.

But I did not have any idea about this scam before and just came to know with your post. I am pretty sure that this hacks may repeat themselves over the time as soon as new lot of investors jump into the market. Being new they dont even understand whats going on and just keep on adding few tokens in the wallet. These are the one's who fall for such traps. Its always better to have the private keys in the coded form and away from the forums, websites and google doc. Never share them over there, its your personal thing.

as far as I know that's old trick, I hope no one deceived, there are so many scammers in cryptocurrencies, even though the way the blockchain technology works transparent, but we can only see the address and history, we don't know who to deal with.

We are suffering a period of adaptation, people are too used to being protected by banks and governments that many have forgotten self reliance as a way to protect themselves, they do not understand that the only thing standing between their coins and hackers are themselves and if they do not take care of their money then no one is going to do it.

this number is empty. Do not bleed these numbers. be careful. Sometimes you are asking for your Eth addresses in the keyrings when sending them, or there are those who send mistakes. Be careful.

There is nothing new, only you have keylog and your private key has been stolen. Why do not you use metamask or imtoken .. are they free?

I also heard many times that it is now unsafe, you can be hacked, so we have to find another way out of the situation.

Now people have learned to hack probably everything, so what surprised . Only hardware wallets have more security, and then do not give 100% guarantee that you will not be hacked . Don't keep all your coins in one wallet

Just stick with the regular safety basics.
1 - Making a web browser SPECIFICALLY for your crypto stuff (MEW & Exchanges). 2 - I personally login to MEW by copy / pasting their link which i saved already in a TXT file. 3 - I check their security certificate before entering my private key or JSON file (which is safer). 4 - I never click a link that says MEW is asking for this or that bullshit because it's 100% phishing URL.

Sorry that your account got hacked my friend. This is always heartbreaking to read. I sincerely hope that there was a way that this could be undone, and you get your account and your funds back, but I doubt that. I think that this is the point when I tell you that you should be careful about what you do with your Login info

sad many people are not good people at the time so always be careful because they do not sleep to victimize people so always be careful .. my advice is to use your json file to not open your account and do not use the your private KEY because they are easier to open your account.

Myetherwallets are too prone to hacks. People should take better security measures.

It is not OP's wallet that has been hacked.
He's curious with those wallets that has tokens on its ETH address and voluntarily asks people to hack his wallet by exposing his private key in the public. And after doing that, whoever finds it will send ETH for the gas fee but it is set automatically when there's an ETH received it will be sent automatically to another address.
Well I'm not so sure with this, not an ETH expert.

Yeah, That's true. MyEtherWallet is very very smart online transaction wallet and it is the very useful wallet for the store our tokens. But now it has some risk because scammers are hacking the MyEtherWallets. Personally, I have lost my MEW accounts in the past. Sad thing is, it's hacked with tokens and ETH. Actually, that's a very sad thing for me. Then I get ledger wallet and store my all tokens in the ledger wallet. It is very very safer than MEW. So I will recommend to all if you can but hardware wallet, so please get ledger wallet. It is very useful.
