It was hard to beat the roleplaying like gimmick, but I think this fNFT thing succeeded in shattering all previous April fools. It's the best of them all!

The idea of bitcointalk user tied NFTs is entertaining, current, and most of all, instructing. I took it as a lesson in illiquid shitcoin markets. Only, this time we knew it wouldn't last longer than a butterfly, and no one had any expectation of riches. But still, we could all experience that bitter bag holding feeling and the "but but... my bitcoinz gone? Where are bitcoinz?" aftertaste. Dodgy emission... "Satoshi NFT ffs!?". Market fuckery with bots scavenging the book for valuable tokens - OK, the bots are just a SOMA hunch I have, but it was impossible to trade with friends at under-market prices: someone would scoop up the good tokenz as soon as you listed them. If this isn't a multi-faceted lesson, then what is?

The only problem I see with this? It's going to be quite a feat surpassing this April fool come next April. You set the bar a bit too high for your own good  Tongue

Thank you theymos!

Theymos jokes for April fool are always awesome, and i want to say thanks for this joke too... now when some one ask us 'When was the last time that you hold 1000btc?' we can say 'In 2021'  Cheesy

This one was one of my favorites, but I will never forget the avatars joke... When I joined to the forum avatars weren't allowed, but they get activated on April fool, and any user who uploads an image automatically gets this image as avatar:

And was fun to see all those sponge bob avatars. And was a nice introduction to that new feature. After the joke users were allowed to change their avatar and to keep them.

gmaxwell's bot (and apparently TryNinja had one too) was the best part of this shitshow. I could dump any useless NFTs at a 98% loss.

I know I shouldn't be this excited about a fake shitcoin market parody but the whole thing was bloody brilliant... well done. Big Vern would be proud.

I think the broader lesson experienced was that NFT collecting can be fun. If you approach it from that perspective - that you are in it to have a fun time doing it - is it really so bad? The philosophy applies to the entire realm of physical collectibles as well: there's a lot of hobbyists who are simply into it because they enjoy doing it. If you're in it for the pure sake of making money, you may end up disappointed, especially if NFT prices are in a bubble, which they largely are. The technology and concept will remain standing long after the bubble bursts.

If you have 1000 BTC - sure. In fact, having 1000 BTC would probably be fun enough, no need for NFTs.

But spending the real hard-earned ones... meh.

You don't need 1000 BTC in order to enjoy NFTs. There are thousands of NFTs that are quite cheap. If you enjoy the artwork or care about the brand - anything from Rare Pepe to CryptoKitties to whatever the latest thing is - I'd say that in itself is a decent enough reason to jump in.
