Help needed, please.
I've got Avalon2 220GH miner. It worked very well but I decided to upgrade the FW and SW. Firstly, I downloaded and flashed the last Avalon2 .bin - no success. Then I found somewhere that this version of ASIC should be updated with FW for Avalon1. Done, but again no success. I don't remember if I messed with cgminer (I was going to), it was months ago.
Eventually I can't access the miner's interface to fix this problem. I get into failsafe mode (rapid LED blinking) but this doesn't help. Advanced IP Scanner sees the router as a 'dead' host. No ping, no telnet, no ssh.
Any chance to help me? Thanks.

If you plug the modules into a PC, you can just run BFGMiner and it should work fine.

Thank you for the idea. However, I want to get rid of my problem in principle.

Google for WRT failsafe instructions, then you can reflash the Avalon WRT OS.

I found lots of instructions how to flash WR703N in different modes, in Linux and Windows. The real problem is that I can't reach it by LAN through ping, telnet, nor ssh. IP scanner sees the router as 'dead' host in failsafe 192.168.0.100, and 'live' when normally started but again, no ping, no telnet, no ssh.

BTW what is the microUSB port left open for in Avalon? Never met any use of it in instructions.

Google specifically for failsafe, you have to hit the reset button in a particular pattern to boot it into a different mode... which then allows you to reflash the WRT image.

Thank you but I'm doing that exactly. When booting normally, the blue LED flashes numerous times slowly (~2 Hz) then it lights. For failsafe I press reset button, and LED begins to flash very fast and keeps flashing.
Then, see above...  Huh

UPD: Plus, I tried connecting Avalon to two different PCs, to router it used to work through, used different LAN cables, network settings. Each time everything works perfect but no ping, no telnet, no ssh.

UPD2: Is it possible to use an original WR703N (the blue box) as replacement with Avalon?

The fact the LEDs are flashing correctly suggests its waiting at that IP now. You can follow my alternative subnet setup instructions from the Bitmain S3 thread to get there. If its still not working then I'm not sure what is going wrong. Yes you can use an original WR703N, and flash the Avalon image.

Progress Report (no progress actually)

1. I disconnected the network module from Avalon and connected it through LAN and microUSB charger. The behavior is the same, visible as 192.168.0.100, 'dead' in failsafe, live in 'normal' boot (with IP scanner). No ping, no telnet, no ssh.
2. I've got another WR703N native device. It works perfect but connected to Avalon it gets no power. It's not the same as the Avalon network module.
3. Got an idea about some LightningAsic firmware reportedly best for routers and mining. Still trying to figure out.

ok so I got a bat file to start up the BFGminer.. i used this one:
bfgminer -S avalonmm:\\.\COM22 --set avalonmm:clock=1500 --set avalonmm:voltage=1 --set avalonmm:fan=80

i changed the com port to mine wich says 5 and saved the file.
i double click the bat file and BFG miner opens up and asks for url , username, and PW.

i enter that info and it say no new devices found
and pool 0 is hiding info

can anyone help me understand what i am doing wrong?

...you do have external 5V power to the WR don't you?

Yes, it has info about configuring BFGminer generally so you don't have to type pool and login each time. I'm not sure why you're not getting it shown though.

They're worth something, head over to marketplace -> goods -> computer hardware

Ok, so i a got a hand me down Avalon 2 (one of the Chinese knock off, as it has a Bitmine.com sticker on it and it's in a stainless steel case). I was able to reset the password, and can now log in but i can get this thing to mine to save my life. I've played with all the different setting i could think of but i keep get tons of discards. to be honest i haven't actually mined an accepted share yet, but tons and tons of discards. I'm hoping somebody has some idea as to what i can try cause i'm all out of ideas... i have no clue what else to do and i've been working on this for at least a week. I'm super lost guys and any help anybody can provide is greatly appreciated.

heres some pics of what i'm getting:

and of course the log from the cgminer API:
