Anyone buy bitcoins off ebay?

Just wondering if anyone has done this and did it work out? Any feed back would be nice as there are a few auctions for 2 btc that are at $1 right now I may want to dive on.

I just checked eBay and there are no ' 2 btc that are at $1 right now '  .

You should also check the completed listings to see if anybody sold btc for $ 1.-

Why would anyone trust a $3000 transaction with anyone they don't know? That's an expensive life lesson.

Also, you are allowed to sell GiftCard Codes. I going to print the codes and mail them as well from now on as well as email.

So, if there was a dispute, how would you confirm that you sent the gift code? Certified Mail? I'm not really that experienced with eBay.

Also, it kind of sucks that I can't place a max bid lower than .50 + current bid. Anyone you could change that setting, or is it in stone by eBay?

I have successfully sold physical bitcoins on eBay... just to see if it would go through without being cancelled by eBay.  It worked.

It remains to be seen what happens in a dispute if the seller can prove he shipped physical goods to a buyer's confirmed address and the buyer signed for it.  Physical bitcoins are a step above just sending a redemption code on a piece of paper, because the coins themselves have a fairly obvious collectible value.  I presume MemoryDealers has some fairly sophisticated controls of their own as well, because they're in the high dollar electronics business, something that would be just as ripe for credit card fraud as bitcoins.

Certainly there are risks in selling bitcoins through eBay, but are there any risks to the buyer? Even if you pay first, you're the one paying with the reversible medium, so if they don't come through with the bitcoins, it shouldn't be hard to reverse, right? Or is "dealing in bitcoins" such a terrible thing that eBay might not care or might suspend your account or whatever?

And yes, I would think that any merchant selling them ought to be physically mailing private keys, and it would have similar risks to high value easily resellable small electronics.

I've had nothing but bad luck selling them on eBay, but actually.. I did profit pretty good!

I was selling them for $25 per coin and german people would purchase lots of ten at a time!  I made a fortune!!  But then EVERY SINGLE ONE of them got returned to me saying they didn't actually purchase the item, and things were looking pretty bad for awhile.  But phone call after phone call to Paypal and I got 95% of them returned back to me!  Just one, some Linda got off with $100 but I got at least $2500 worth of coins sold.

I guess the scammers were assuming they could get away with my bitcoins but I posted in the eBay listing and the Paypal info that there were to be absolutely no returns whatsoever and there would be a video used as proof as evidence of the transaction.  And when you are arguing with Paypal, apparently that is good enough proof for the transaction.  Apparently with Linda she had complained to her credit card company and it might take a few months to finalize, but we still might win.

I still would not recommend selling them on eBay.
