Lately, I have been hearing about these things called ICOs.

Can someone explain what they are? Curious to learn, thanks!  Grin

*Sigh*... http://lmgtfy.com/?q=What+is+an+ICO%3F

It's basically a way for a company to sell a lot of their coins/tokens to people who are interested in them, before they are actually traded.

The company basically raises capital that way, and early investors *think* they get a headstart. Everyone wins, right? (But in reality, 98% of ICO's will usually be traded after the ICO below the ICO price.)

ICO stands for Initial Coin Offering and it means when a company first starts selling their coins or tokens on the market. An ICO can be open to the public or it can be a private ICO.

The benefit for ICO's is that you're buying when the price is very low, so if the coin/token shoots up in value you'll be making a lot of money back, however the risk is that the ICO will fail and you won't make any money or you'll even lose what you put in.

And  I should have just googled it, sorry, was not thinking. Will do that next time!
Use google first with your curiosity before posting and asking random questions in sites, forums  etc.

ICO is just like an IPO if you're familiar with stock market. Only it use an altcoin or mostly tokens, and basically its just kind of trading/investments in cryptocurrency based.

ICO stands for Initial Coin Offering. They create and start a project to sell their shit tokens if it is scam or real tokens if it is not scam that's why you should study the ICO first before joining their bounty programs or investing in their ICO.

Hi There

I've created a video where I explain in very simple terms what an ICO (initial coin offering) is.

Take a look and let me know if it was helpful Smiley

Well this is a very common question, you can found this answer very easily in google. Though I would like to inform you about this:-

ICO:- the term ICO is short form of Initial Coin Offering, its a common method to raising capital from public in exchange of coins/tokens of concerned platform to start project
It is very similar like IPOs in traditional market, for more you can google this term IPO.

As ICO is a easy way to raise capital from public so thats why most of the ICOs are exits as scam. So be careful before investing any amount into any ICO, Do Your Own Research.

ICO or Initial Coin Offering is just one way for a project to raise funds from the crypto community to help develop their project or services. If you're thinking about investing in ICOs i would strongly suggest spending a few days doing some research before you jump in because inherently there's a lot of risk investing in a project that may or may not succeed.

I think it is a good start to ask here, since information on google are really too much, but i think similar concepts or knowledge are more or less the same on most of the webpage. It would be good to view other previous discussion or comments on similar topics in this forum. You will encounter more problems and question definitely afterwards, i think you should not be hesitate to ask more here while you may summarise and tell us your understanding or research on the certain topics or questions you want to make sure your understanding is correct. Initial Coin Offering.

You can use different search engine for it as everything you need to know can be found on it. I'd advise that don't be interested with it, most of them are scams so be aware.

Actually you could Google it yourself. ICO is Initial Coin Offering. During the ICO, the project team sells digital tokens for crypto-currencies or fiat money to investors. Later, these coins can be used on the project platform as an internal currency or trade them on exchanges.

An Initial Coin Offering, also commonly referred to as an ICO, is a fundraising mechanism in which new projects sell their underlying crypto tokens in exchange for bitcoin and ether. It's somewhat similar to an Initial Public Offering (IPO) in which investors purchase shares of a company.

ICO is just a process for companies to raise funds. The so-called ICO, the full name of Initial Coin Offering, means “digital currency initial public offering”!

Understanding is simply a project, getting ideas and attracting investors to buy their own coin. I think so.

ICO is a company that starts to make coins and sells it in the market. When buying ICO means high risk, they need a strong community and experienced team to push the coin to the trading floor.
