Currently sportsbet.io and luckyb.it are unavailable in italy, in the first case there is a DNS redir made by the italian government, in the latter case the site itself blocks italian IPs.

BTW, there are many sites that works flawlessy (like primedice and other famous names), I'd like to ask if something in the near future could change since there are already sites that have in some way excluded the italian market.

Its not that hard to figure out. I believe those site are just trying to avoid trouble as much as they can. Its not only the Italian market but I have read about United States market and the Chinese market who have been disenfranchised not only in the area of gambling but also when it comes to ICOs not because the service providers won't enjoy the revenue from that market or not happy to expand their user base but legal ramifications that may swallow them if those market are tapped. For those that are still accepting, I guess they have something solid to stand on by the time government agents is ready for them.

The determining factor of what will happen in the future is very much dependent on the position of government of your country concerning online gambling in general and to be more specific, crypto gambling. This will go along way in determining whether gambling sites would open their business up for participation from that part of the world or remain shut while those who are open now would either close up services or not.

If I've understood correct, there are sites less worried about jurisdictions, but as soon as the italian govt will shut down the access, these sites won't be interested in coming back except with the use of a VPN

Nitrogen sports should take sports bets from Italy?

Blocking Italy, UK and China internet wont last for a lot longer, too many people are on VPN and TOR in those countries.

Different data exists for Tor metrics but the university of Oxford shows Italy being very interested in "anonymous internet" usage

https://metrics.torproject.org/oxford-anonymous-internet.html

At some point the decentralized gambling site dream (that many have), will just make it pointless to try and stop online gambling (assuming anyone launches a good trustworthy site).

For those that are still accepting, I guess they have something solid to stand on by the time government agents is ready for them.

The problem for governments is there is literally billions in running illegal gambling.... they sometimes dont want to have any legal option....they sometimes want to tax the legal option excessively...

It all depends on politics but the "illegal" gambling places like China, for example, a team of 56 suspects were just arrested for earning 1.1 billion running a gambling site there http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/a/201808/19/WS5b7958caa310add14f3868c3.html

That kind of money will make a lot of people break the law. There is no legal option though for such a large population of gamblers.

then if you want to play the gambling game, you need to install VPN in your browser or you can download VPN software. I think cyberghost will give a good solution to cover your IP so you can play the game and I am sure that the other VPN software can do this too. or maybe you can find the other sites that allow you to use your IP to play gambling but using VPN is the best solution for you.

The best thing to do in this case is to contact your bookmaker and explain the situation. They are doing the same in Greece and Cyprus right now, most bookmakers if still accepting Italian residents, will be ok with you using a VPN. They don't want to lose customers, unless they are threatened by the Italian gambling regulations.

It's the same here in Belgium for some gambling sites, although I haven't come across any crypto gambling sites that are blocked just yet.
The thing is, this is a simple DNS block, so it's very easy to circumvent. Just change your DNS settings to Google's DNS for example.

Here's a tutorial if you need it:
https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using

Really silly that they go with a DNS block, that only works for people who are computer illiterate.
But hey, saves you money on a VPN service Tongue

The point is that each country has their own legal laws and if you do not follow them up it doesn't matter if you have licenses from some other country, you can still get banned. You can be any legit business and do any legit product or service and if you do not comply with the laws of another country they will eventually ban you.

Clearest example is denver has corporations doing legal cannabis business and basically selling weed to people, however even in usa they can't go 1 meter beyond the state line and sell anything. You need to follow your own laws but if someone else laws doesn't suit yours they will eventually ban you. Nothing major about this, nothing bitcoin related, typical gambling laws.

It is a long time that I access Sportsbet site from Proton VPN, it only costs 10 USD monthly but even free it has a few TOR routed connections to use especially from Switzerland since our countries are near, it proves in excellent speed although routed. I hope this help for future Italian users and I know they are a lot, we are gamblers in our DNA Smiley

10 USD is expensive for a VPN, the free one of Proton slows your Internet connexion down though, but for less than 50 USD a year you can get a reliable VPN that does not slow down your connexion, I've been using PIA (privateinternetaccess) for three years now and I am very satisfied (plenty of countries available), the number one criteria for me was to be able to watch sport through streaming sites and bet at the same time, with PIA VPN no problem at all.

You could use a VPN to circumvent the ISP block, but in the rare event that any of these crypto sites ask for your ID and find out you are based in a country on the ban list your account might get closed. As for the Italian players being blocked, I guess some sites just don't want any legal troubles and it's easier for them to stop the whole traffic from a given country.

Personally I'm using VPN if the site was blocked and if the site just recently being block and you have some fund on the account, you can contact via CS , of course with VPN.
My government also ban most of crypto gambling because they want to protect people from online gambling and cryptocurrency !

There's nothing that's going to be done to change the fact that regulatory issues are going to be a burden to the gambling industry. The gambling industry is one which preys on people, and I think regulating this isn't something which should be frowned upon. I don't think kids being given the ability to gamble online is something which many would support.

But yeah, if you want to get around it use a VPN -- though, you're still breaking the law and the company could cancel any winnings which you incur on the site because you're using a VPN. It's a win-win for them, as they won't do the reverse with losses.

well gambling in real life here isn't allowed , but there are literally now laws regarding online gambling since over 99% of the population here don't know that they can do stuffs online with their money
yet there are many of sites that don't allow residents of my country to gamble
if you are really interested in gambling you can always use a VPN like others here stated , the rules of your country may never change so you need that
you can also try one of the asian brokers like asianconnect or premium tradings so you can bet on different sites with them

basically you can find the best sites with VPN ,the only thing I'm struggling with is poker since there is no chance I can play with stars , 888 , party ..etc but I can perfectly gamble on sports and other casino games with alternative options

Well the thing with the VPN is that the company isn't held liable by the government where you're ACTUALLY situated. They're doing the due diligence that they're not working with customers within certain regions, such as America -- as their prosecutor's office would without a doubt go after gambling sites.

But if you're using a VPN, the gambling sites are practically given a free pass as they don't have to do ACTUAL due diligence to be able to work within a country.

Gambling is bad enough, I don't like the fact that people are skirting regulations and people are allowing this to occur.

Well As I can see from the info and from the situation it self I really think the italian government may involve itself regarding the situation it has, And maybe the other sites that are still available in the country is because the government doesn't have full outlook on all gambling sites in the internet they can sure would have a hard time blocking it one by one on a situation that if a site had block another one will spout, Maybe the block ones are on the past and the unblock are on the recent ones that are still fresh, Or they will still get into it.

You don't blame the Italian government for making this kind of regulation and restrictions, could be that gambling are seriously affecting their youth negatively and putting restrictions in gambling sites are the only way to cut this down. There are also other countries that put this kind of restrictions on gambling. The only way to make this better in the nearest future is for gambling sites to put regulations and run in a way that will favor the government and them.

We should blame them because they are restricting people's freedoms. The government should help us handle our affairs, take some burden from our shoulders. We are paying them and they are making our lives more comfortable. That's their purpose. If they're blocking access to sites that are giving people pleasure and allowing them to have some fun it's starting to get bad.
Thank God we have VPN Smiley

Exactly this.

If gambling sites actually want friendly regulations from the government instead of being blanket banned from a country, they're going to have to prove that beyond a reasonable doubt they're trying to ensure that people that are 18+ (or 21+ depending on the area where gambling is legal) are playing on their site and ONLY these people are playing.

Online gambling is always going to be a burden to governments -- as people are not reporting taxes that they incur on the site (through the few that create gains) Kids are gambling online, and so on and so forth. These sites have to work with government, as they can't get away with skirting regulations.

Why tho? I mean it's a known fact that VPNs can bypass those restrictions/bans so why are they even doing it? I've read somewhere before that the reason why governments restricts online gambling in the first place is because it is not regulated by them. They get nothing from it when their citizens gamble unlike when their people gamble in a local casino. I'm not saying that this is the case but I find it redundant for the countries banning a certain internet operation such as gambling / investing online.
