Problem with Armory client installation on offline computer

I have been attempting to set up the Armory client on an offline computer. So I have extracted the files for Armory 0.90 for Ubuntu to my Netbook which has Xubuntu 12.04. The file system I am using on Xubuntu is Thunar. But I cannot get the Install_DoubleClick_RunInTerminal.sh file to execute in order to open up the .deb dependency files that come with the Armory install. I have tried the files for Ubuntu versions 10.04 and 12.04, both 32- and 64-bit but both do not work.

Before attempting to load the .sh file, I had gone into the Properties in order to make it executable but the .sh file does not respond to me double-clicking on it. Leaving that option unchecked, Root Terminal opens up but it sits there doing nothing.

I have followed videos on Youtube explaining how to do this but nothing happens. What am I doing wrong here?

Open up a terminal, cd to the directory, and, launch it using:-

Tell me if you get any errors.

Cheers for the advice. The cd worked and I managed to download the files. But there is a new problem. None of the 32-bit versions of Armory (0.88 for Ubuntu 10.04; 0.90 for Ubuntu 10.04; 0.90 for Ubuntu 12.04) had the correct dependencies for my Xubuntu system.

Could it be that my offline Netbook is going to need the Ubuntu o/s rather than Xubuntu?

The offline bundles require the exact version Ubuntu to match the bundle.  I would've expected Kubuntu and Xubuntu to work, but I've had reports of both of them failing.  If you really want to make the dependencies work for your debian-based distro, you can use the package manager on the offline computer: try to install the package through Synaptic, it will mark all the appropriate depedencies for download, then you can you go to File->Generate Offline Download Script.  Take the script to your offline computer and double-click it:  it will download all the deb files you need which you can take back to the offline computer and either install from the command line, or using a related option in the Synaptic file menu.

If not, I recommend you just download the correct version of vanilla ubuntu.  I haven't heard of any problems with that, except with the 12.04-64bit bundle, which throws a bunch of cryptic errors, but does work (just click through the errors and run Armory, it will work).  I personally recommend the 12.04-32bit bundle, just because you have no need for 64-bit on the offline computer.  I think we'll have a 13.10 offline bundle for the next release, too -- in addition to a Raspberry Pi build

Grand, but, will it be only for Debian or for other distros as well? I know the actual source (last I tried) got all pissy that I couldn't use .deb files.

I don't import the wallet files on the offline armory. I just send bitcoins to a new address.

Currently we only distribute binaries compatible with Debian and its variants. Same for the R-Pi package, it's Raspbian only.

I had also tried the 12.04 32-bit version of Ubuntu on the Netbook, but Armory didn't load up there either. That did surprise me as I downloaded it with no problem on my main laptop which carries 12.04 ubuntu.

Is the 13.10 offline Armory bundle designed to fix the compatibility issues on Lubuntu and Xubuntu?
