Recently, I have seen a lot of newbies posting in threads that are very old and aren't active anymore. The first page of a section is supposed to have active and ongoing discussions while such actions don't let them be.

If you are a newbie, please take some time and read the OP (opening post) from the first page of any thread before you post anything to make sure it is not old. Because when you reply to an old thread, it pops up to the top again and people start posting in it once again which is something shouldn't be done.
You don't need to share your opinion about a topic that was started in early 2017 or even before that. There are hundreds of new topics which you can use to express your feelings. I'm not saying that you should post in almost every single one of them, but if you think you have something to say about a topic then you should first see the starting date of that and then go on. Posting replies without reading the starting date of a thread only makes the dead alive.

I hope people take this seriously.

It's very true, I did encounter this one where old post are brought back from dead and when I saw the date it's not what I expected it would be. If all newbies would do this then spam in this forum will be lessen.

Thanks for pointing this out! I was probably one of these noobs. Being new to forum, I was not aware enough to notice the timestamp. On hindsight, that was stupid and careless of me... I'll be more careful in the future.

You have pointed out something so germane and its what we see around here. Its not enough for a thread to have just too pages and you see that as an opportunity to post (since its not a mega thread) "I should not be accused of spamming the forum".

The annoying place you tend to see it on the Service section where a campaign that has ended, a newbie will post to ask for whether there is a room for him to be recruited.

The bold part is where the challenge is because lots of newbies won't get to see this thread either by error or omission and after a few days where several threads have been created, this gets push backwards never to be see again.

If all newbies would do this then spam in this forum will be lessen.

And even if it doesn't lessen the spam, it would definitely not bring down the threads/topics created recently and might are important to be seen for some people. When old threads start getting spaces on the top, all the new threads start getting down on the list which is what should not be happening.

I'll be more careful in the future.

Exactly. You see that in every other section these days. They simply just open the last page of the thread and I even doubt if they even read a few replies and then they just post something regardless of the date when that discussion was started.
I just wanted to post this so that if even a few of them read this and don't do this again, I will think I, at least, did a very small thing for the betterment of the forum.

Why do these things tend to happen in waves? There will be periods that stretch months without me ever seeing a newbie necro-bump a post, then when it happens it seems to be as if it's "monkey see, monkey do."

Then, when I noticed the dates and the lame comments posted by the same user I was pretty confused on many levels. I don't know why the newbie would waste time posting on such an old thread, I don't know where they found the thread and I don't understand what they are trying to say with what they write.

It just defies all logic, but I suppose if you don't know any better then things like this are bound to happen. Please use your common sense, read the rules, guidelines and stickies around the forum and specifically within whatever section you plan to post within. It is not hard to know what is expected, what is frowned upon and what is going to lead to unproductive conversation. I can't help but feel like most of the problem is somebody refining a bot to spam around the forum more properly. Until it is calibrated, maybe it just posts the nonsense on more "suspect" threads, like we see here.

Depending on the topic, sometimes it's easy to miss that a conversation has died. I recall starting out mining with near obsolete hardware and obviously not finding current conversations on the topic when I searched. I can't recall if I ever necro-bumped a thread but probably did in those days with the specific purpose of getting knowledge from those that where there before me.

Though most of these users are not using search, and are bringing life back to dead spammy threads. The ones I've been seeing appear to be spam bots; usually a rehash of the last page of posts merged into a steamy pile. That may explain the waves that seem to pop up. Especially because when say a bot bumps it, then every post count whore out there jumps in like it hasn't been 17 months since the last reply.

It would be nice if a topic was auto locked after say 9 months of inactivity. If someone searches and needs answers or there is something to ad, they can request it be unlocked or start a current thread.

What you've pointed out is actually true. I have noticed it in some other forum as well! It's irritating sometimes how people don't take time to read the entire post including the date it has been posted.

Some of the threads are bumped willingly specially in which some BTC transaction has taken place to just show the people are  stupid to give their BTC for the services. you see the wave might be account farmer decided that today  is the day to bump all old post from his farming accounts.

However, most of the people trying to open this post were not all newbies, let us consider that there are ranks who erroneously open a discussion just for the sake of their bounty campaign. Most people only care about how to complete the task. In fact, what you said is not just caused by Newbie. Many high-level accounts will do the same! I occasionally make the same mistakes!

Thanks for the constructive post. But I think it difficult for newbie. Because they are "new" so they often don't read the rule clearly. But I hope they read this post at least one time.

Why on earth would you need to share your thoughts on a topic that has been inactive for months now while there are other new and ongoing discussions that you can be a part of? It doesn't make any sense. And its not even like the posts that are made on those threads are somehow constructive, but they are utterly useless replies that even deserve to be deleted.

I understand that some higher level accounts might do the same thing, but that is very rare to find. All I have seen so far have been newbies posting in those dead threads making them alive again. And, considering the fact that a higher ranked member would understand such a basic thing, I just pointed out newbies doing this because they are the majority behind this new kind of spam wave.

Better to post in new or active threads instead of digging up old topics indeed.
With all these signature campaigns it will be something we gave to work with as people feel the need to get their needed posts a week in as little effort as possible it seems. I struggle with this as well, but i always try to find active topics and try to add sonething to that topic when posting.

This particular problem doesn't really have anything to do with signature campaigns because Newbies cannot join them anymore and I haven't noticed any of them wearing any paid signature when I saw them posting. It is just lack of care that draws them to do this I guess.

They basically surf more than one pages in a section in search of a topic where they can fit at least something that is somehow on-topic regardless of the date of that thread and the quality of their post.

When a topic is bumped to the top, people start replying to the posts from the bottom without noticing the date when that discussion was started, and that process keeps killing the new topics in that section which move down in numbers when the dead start coming back to live.

They can get activities by posting in latest topics as well. Why would they do it in those very much old threads?
And, signature campaigns should be limited to Member+ accounts. It has been said a lot of times before but isn't enforced yet. It would definitely reduce spam to a very large extent.

The last reply on that thread was about 8 months ago, in December 2017, and people, I don't know from where, have found it and started posting in it again just like it has been started yesterday. I don't really understand the mindset of such people who don't even bother to read the starting post before starting to reply, or maybe they read the starting post but just don't see the date it was posted on.
