The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Every 2 frigging weeks china is banning bitcoin..

If they were honestly even considering it they would be shutting down the ASIC manufacturers first and not repeatedly bringing it up.

Bitcoin is so revolutionary that it is of strategic importance. China can't stop ASIC manufacturing without the support of the USA, Russia, Great Britain and France.

The reason is that if all not the super-powers are in agreement over how Bitcoin should be treated, they may spark a new arms race: this time over hash-power.
