up for me - 18.47

try this if you're unsure: http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/

Uselful site. Bookmarked for future use.

I know britcoin went down earlier and came back up but it seems to down again for me. Anyone else having problems at the moment?

I know it is supposed to go down again but I thought that wasn't untill later tonight?

Problem with your router and it's DNS caching.

It does appear to be down for just me. I have tried a power cycle on my router but I still can't access the site. All other websites are fine.

Is there a way of clearing the cache on my router? I have looked for a way to do this but haven't managed to find anything.

I have tried "ipconfige /flushdns" but still no look.

It's down - page seems to be replaced by holding page that companies use when domain is up for sale ... Been like most of today (8/5/11)

Doesn't look good for britcoin

May be an issue with your ISPs dns servers being slow to update. Could be worth trying to switch them over to google or opendns

Hi hope someone can help!

I sent Britcoin some money a while ago. According to my bank it arrived on the 31st May. Thing is every time I've logged in my balance still remained at zero.

I'm guessing this is all because I created the account using my Google ID. OpenID never works for me for reasons unknown.

In the meantime the price has doubled Sad

Anyway, even if I did ever manage to log in via OpenID, I'm guessing that would look like a completely different account to my Google ID account where the money was actually sent.

I did email support and didn't notice a bounce, but I'm guessing it arrived during some server downtime.

Any suggestions welcome.

At the time of writing this, there is a sell order for 18.21 BTC for 300GP making it 16.4745 GBP/BTC

However there is also a buy order for 45.2 BTC for 840 GBP making it 18.5841 GBP/BTC

A guy is willing to pay £18.5 for BTC and somebody is willing to sell for £16.47.

Is there a problem with the site where the orders are not being matched and the trade not happening?

Many thanks

Sultan

Hi Phantom!

Thank you for your reply!

I don't see any open orders for the amount I sent, nor do I see any bitcoins in my account. Of course, having opened the account with a GoogleID, I wouldn't see any bitcoins in there I suppose. I think I am effectively logging in into a different account each time.

Genjix,

My payment reference was 587e650e. I sent the money on the 28th May and my bank confirmed Lloyds received it on the 31st May. Can you find out what has happened to it as I can't see it at all, nor can I see any bitcoins - though I would be delighted if I'd managed to buy some at market on the 31st.

If I am not going to be able to buy any bitcoins, can you please send the money back so I can give it to a friend who, happily, does buy bitcoins from you.

[Update]

Oh man this is a real mess. I finally got in via open ID (Google account) and now I'm showing as User ID: 1932

I was 414 when I sent the money.

I've had an order to buy BTC outstanding for a couple of hours now @17.2536. I was trying to directly match an existing order so it would go through immediately, and when it didn't within a couple of minutes I cancelled it and re-placed it, thinking I must have got the rounding wrong somewhere.

Still waiting. As long as it gets filled eventually, I don't really mind, but it is a *little* frustrating not having it go through, and I *know* there are a couple of orders placed before mine which also haven't been matched.

Hi everyone, first time poster... I'd just like to add my experience... Well i've recently found out about bitcoins and after some research and quite a bit of doubt i took the plunge and sent some money to mr taaki... To my suprise within a few hours the funds were added to my account, then after some pondering i placed my bid, within a few hours i had the bitcoins in my account, it couldn't of gone more smoothly, so thank you for providing this service, and keep up the good work! Oh btw is there a problem, as i can see the bitcoin chart has not been updated in some time? Also i'd like to echo the other guys comment about the matchmaking process, as it is strange someone would be willing to pay more for a bitcoin than someone is willing to sell. Thank you in advance.

Well if you got yours in a couple of hours while I've waited 9 days then there's a problem. On the 6th I sent a message to webmaster@britcoin.co.uk asking him to look into it.

Managed to log back in as user 414 though. Still nothing showing on my balance. No open orders that look like mine, no bitcoins and no reply.

My 0.02BTC...

I was confused why everyone was reporting BritCoin to be up but it wasn't working for me...

The answer is that http://britcoin.co.uk is currently resolving correctly, but http://www.britcoin.co.uk isn't.
So, for now, drop the www.

Looks to me like the website software is running fine, but the trading back end has crashed.

Looks like the migration didn't go as well as planned.

Yeah, I've waited 6 days (though only 4 working days to be fair) and not had anything come through. 2 hours is a bit of an annoyance, I would have had a 50% rise on my order since then Sad

If you are so eager to buy BitCoins and the exchange is not doing it, perhaps you can buy some over the counter? I'm sure there's some guys in the UK willing to accept a bank transfer to send you some of their BitCoins.

That is actually a very good idea. I will remember it for next time, thank you!

This time, sadly, all the cash I had allocated to this project has been in financial limbo somewhere between Mr Taaki's account and Britcoin since the 31st, so I can't spend it elsewhere.

Besides which, right now might well have been the time I'd have chosen to sell. But I don't know for sure. I have not examined the chart too well as I found the prospect depressing.

Oh well, there is always another day and another market.
