It's time to get rid of all the weak hands. They don't deserve what's coming.

What happens when/if no one wants your airdrop coins?

It's an airdrop. Just a donation. Who gives a shit? This is not auroracoin. NYC isn't built (hyped) around an airdrop. Just one of many promotions coming. Merchant acceptance and usage is key. More NYC is worth by July 4th, harder it will be to refuse...

agreed, with the way nyc coin is moving and the constant updates we get on where its at as well as whats to come, i see this as a true no brainer for an altcoin at this stage.

There just isnt another alt coin that i have seen come out in the last few months that has this kind of traction.

the only reason imo as to why its not being bought up a lot more than it is currently is the hash rate is too good.  im a low hash miner at 750khs and i still get 4mil a day and im happy with that.

bought 500$ worth over the last few weeks at 1-10 latoshi and continuing to mine.

gl everyone and i hope we all are the ones laughing next year this time Smiley

p.s. as ron popeil used to say, "SET IT AND FORGET IT"

Sorry I'll be more clear. I meant to talk about something along the lines of:

i dont see anyone here whos actually doin anythng for this coin other than talking about how much you like it. In order for this coin to succeed, you need people developing uses for it, or vote it up on trading sites, android wallet, maybe merchants outside nyc.

you guys need to do stuff like that for this coin to blow up

You don't need to follow along the exact lines of what Gnarltusk mentions, but things like this help a coin grow. Yes I know the coin isn't that old or big yet whatever the case is. I want to know what steps are being taken towards things like this/raising awareness besides the press releases already put out (I'm assuming you are going to keep putting those out) and the android wallet in development. That isn't to say these things haven't been done well or good already, but I feel as if I'm still in the dark.

What is/will NYC be built around? The only thing I know of from past posts is the fact that the coin is named New York Coin and the claim that New Yorkers will adopt this coin because of its name and their pride for NYC.

I give a shit, and I think a lot of people give a shit about (hype) if not in the form of an airdrop, then in the form of something else. What made doge popular? Hype over a joke or a meme. Auroracoin's hype over an airdrop gave it some demand even if it just ended up being dumped. Blackcoin had its multipool. Hype is what gets buyers. Hype is important, especially as a marketing tool and I question a foundation member that disregards this. Yes the coin has two minute transaction times etc... (giving it use as a retail payment method)  you or someone else posted that the last time I asked. Is the coin/foundation doing anything innovative to get the coin out there. Or are you going to give me the answer it is in the works, big plans for the future, etc...? Basically aimless bull shit that doesn't really have any meaning. I'd rather nothing be said of what the coin will be/do while stuff is in the works rather than being given baseless the coin will be worth x y and z.

In other words, I want to know what drives you and/or others to the conclusion that NYC = $1 or NYC 200+ Satoshi. You're right merchant acceptance and usage is key. I already know about the bounty being offered for merchants that adopt the coin and whatnot, but I'd rather get news of whats in the works rather than posts of pretty pictures and baseless claims on what the value of this coin will be. How is this coin being marketed? Have you/why don't you put out bounties for the creation of a faucet or a gambling/dice game for nyc etc...? The shop was/is a good idea. What happened with that? You guys could do general online giveaways to raise awareness of the coin. For people who like this page, tweet this message, share this site, share this article etc...

If a big name backs the coin through airdrop participation that can, no, it would be a big deal. The airdrop can help shape this coin even further, to casually gloss over it and go like who gives a shit when it can become a good marketing tool is rather shortsighted. Should the airdrop not work there should be some contingency plan in the work/other things being worked on (I'm sure there are, its only a question of what are they?). Yes it has been just mentioned and yes there has been progress at this alt coin's initial stage. And it has gotten some traction, more than a lot of other coins have gotten at their initial stages, but it needs to be kept up and I want to know whats happening in other areas for the coin.

Yes very soon.

Side thought:

Coins given to the general public/online crypto community would be a fantastic idea. When this coin is worth more it would increase exchange participation. Those that wouldn't use their hash/electricity or can't mine coins, but don't want to buy them would have a reason to participate now that they hold coins themselves. Putting more coins in the hands of more people is always a good idea especially with high cap coins like these. It doesn't have to be a huge giveaway. Whatever the foundation deems appropriate should be fine (within reason). If giving away coins by itself is a problem, like I mentioned in my previous post, doing it in exchange for likes, shares, maybe a video promo contest, etc... is another way for this coin to get exposure while you are doing other things.

Speaking of the foundation members/developers how many of you are there? and who is working on what? etc..

mark 500 satoshi in 2014. Just for reflection that NYC could be purchased today for under 1 satoshi.

I doubt you will still be on this forum under this username by the end of 2014 but , hell ... quoted Smiley

Miners and investors ALL need to do their part IF you ever want to see true value of NYC

Needed from all:
1. Merchant acceptance of NYC
2. Usage of NYC
3. Buying of NYC on exchanges
4. Promotion to online crypto community

The Foundation has/will provide:
1. Updated website, code, wallets, apps
2. Toll-free merchant support
3. Marketing ideas and promotions
4. Press Releases about milestones for NYC

sitting back and mining only - waiting for The Foundation to do all the work to promote and proliferate - will not get anyone their desired results.

we have a small community and efforts must come from a community supporting New York Coin.

do some work (GET MERCHANT ACCEPTANCE!) rather than asking what's the plan? what do you have instore? what will you do for us? when/why?

checking an exchange for volume or checking this forum for new posts DOESN'T COUNT. Do 1 tangible thing EVERY day that will help proliferate NYC.

GET TO WORK!!!

nycoin.net is down (and hopefully out!). Prepaid web hosting must have run out.  Grin

Good news is that all the banners with incorrect coin info and static website are now dead links on page 1 of this thread.

Maybe bitcointalk moderator will now allow us to takeover 1st post and put up accurate, updated info and resources for NYC.

Want to do something to help NewYorkCoin?

CONTACT MODERATOR AND SITE ADMIN and ask that Foundation be given access to update 1st post!

The old nycoin.net website is now deleted from google searches. No more confusion of 2 NYC websites floating around!  Grin

The initial post on this bitcointalk thread is now the last problem that remains with outdated info (and now broken links everywhere). Maybe moderators will make the right decision and give Foundation control to update  - or at least update it themselves. All correct coin info can be found at www.newyorkco.in They've been made aware of the situation...

This is a very encouraging message

Please support NYC : http://www.newyorkcoin.net
