3 eth is enough to hold and you have another option to buy another coin with the ethereum. there are too many altcoins that have a pair with ethereum so you can choose one or two and I suggest you don't need to use all of your ethereum. maybe you can use 1 ethereum to buy the altcoin and you can divide for 2-3 coins from the market. and after you get the coin, you can hold it until you can see the pair of the altcoin with ethereum can increase higher so your ethereum amount will grow too.
