Hey everyone, my team and I are getting ready to host sfblockchainweek.io. We will be creating coins that will be given out to speakers including Vitalik, Charlie Lee, Naval, Balaji, Joseph Poon and numerous other titans in the space. There will only be 300 of these coins made, all of them but 38 will be given to speakers and sponsors at the event.

These coins will be numbered and we will be selling numbers 2-40 (not numbers 1 and 10) for $250 each. I will be offering them here for one week and then offer them to the broader community. These will be 1oz silver coins. Please post or PM if interested!

A note: I am accepting reservations for coins on first come first serve basis. I will NOT be collecting any funds before the coins/holos are in hand so please do not send money to anyone before I post final photos here.

Are these DIY or are you going to key them up with some kind of token address?

Are these associated with your Blockchain at Berkeley club?
Or is this something separate?

Blockchain at Berkeley is supporting the event, you can see their logo under Community Partners. I still actively advise the club. I have been in talks with them about possibly making another B@B coin.  Grin

These are DIY but I've had a few individuals ask me to create a key pair for them. If you want to trust me I can do that for you, I would recommend generating the keys yourself though as that would be the security best practice. I can share a few links that help if you've never done it before.

Thank you for the answers.
The previous coin you made was great, and I had no problem "donating" / buying the coin, as it was associated w/ the B@B club....
Now this new coin is just a token and is not associated with the club.
Don't you feel that the $250 price is a little high, especially considering you are minting a decent amount of coins and would more than be able to recoup your costs at even $100.....

For now, I would like to cancel my coin #2 reservation.

Thanks

Ill pick up the number 2 if possible. I think that $250 is outrageous. Can you make it so we get a proper receipt so I can write it off as a donation? Is it considered a donation?

Just to respond to the comments above, we are donating 50% of the profits from the conference to charities including Brian Armstrong’s. If you have any recommendations for charities that deserve support please let me know as we are compiling a list.

This event is for the community, by the community. I personally fronted a significant amount of money to make this whole thing happen and we are giving most conference tickets away for free to any developers or students who apply. For those who are not developers or students  the cost is $1-200. We are offering boot camps, workshops, and numerous other educational events for four days to help educate anyone who wishes to attend rather than most conferences that charge $1000+ and offer very little in the way of educating. We refuse to take money from questionable projects who just want to speak to shill their projects and prioritize quality of content and speakers over everting.

I assure you this is not a greed driven event. My goal for this event is to break even and that is why I am pricing the coin how it is. Like I stated before the rest are being gifted to speakers and sponsors who helped make this event happen so they will not be sold. I totally respect if the price is too high for some. Hopefully that provides some clarity into the logic behind this.  I will wait 24 hours before changing reservations, let me know before then if you change your mind, otherwise I will give the spots to those who posted or PM’d.
