@Asche: Absolutely But also DarkStar_ since he has (had) that sort of thread for his notifications, too where I have read about the piggy-bot for the first time. Well I guess till that point in the past where it was changed. Didn´t check for actuality and assumed it would still work that way (even though I was wondering that there is no word about it in Piggy´s OP - well, there was the clue )

Got it all now, will stick with the PMs then and delete my post in Archival

The post wasn't edited (see here), so the bot must have missed it. My guess is this happens once in a while due to a few seconds delay in downloading posts (because of internet downtime).

An ignore list for the bot could be as simple as one thread in which each user can create and update one post with an ignore list (with userIDs)...

But how to find all IDs of already ignored users?

When I try to use the "Ignore user options" function in my personal account settings I keep getting the 524 error after the page can't load for a very long time.



I want to ask another question about the code to be sure if I understand everything correctly.

If I want to have all the bot functions to be switched on I have to send a PM to Maggiordomo using "option" in the subject line and this code:

Do you have a very long ignore list? It's known to cause time-outs, and you'll probably need theymos to fix it.

I think so because I keep adding users from the start and only a couple of times removed somebody. When I wanted to check my ignore list it was not possible. It keeps loading until the error shows up, so I assume it is happening because the list is a very long one.

Thanks for the useful bot, it works like a clock on the forum, but I can’t configure it with a telegram, notifications do not come to me, help to configure it correctly, write down the setup process by points, preferably with pictures!

You can either receive notifications via PM or via Telegram but not both! So if you are already getting them through PM forget about Telegram.
Read through the entire first post, it is all explained there. You need to contact the bot from the same Telegram ID that you registered with in order for the bot to connect your account to your Telegram account.

I want to be notified through Telegram:

1. Contact @Maggiordomo_Service_bot on telegram (with the same telegram username used for registering to the bot).
2. Write something to him in Telegram chat, example: start.



1. Write a PM here on Bitcointalk to Maggiordomo by placing in the subject subscribe.
2. Write in the body: telegram:yourTelegramUsername (doesn't matter if with @ or without)
3. Send PM to Maggiordomo.



I know this is obvious for many but as we see not tech-savvy members can be confused even with such a simple task. I already had to explain these setup to somebody step by step more than once. I hope this would be helpful.

Questions regarding the notification bot.

I have idea to use the bot for user subscription - when  the chosen user post a new thread you get notification.
Also possiblity to subscribe for a section ( we have  notifications by email which is not working pretty well, sometimes some of the new threads are missing).

It can be only a Telegram notifier.

I don't know if you have time for this and I don't know if the other members will be interested in these features. Just giving an idea here.

Just subscribed for the notifications by forum pm.
I remember reading that i have to create a topic, so i just created it and send link to the bot with "subscribe" as a subject. Now by checking OP i think no need for the topic i just have created because no mention of it in the instructions for subscribe.

The bot doesn't work with a topic anymore.

Notifications are sent only by telegram or PM.

This is amazing how the bot function 🙂
PMs are really instant, but two things came into my mind: One, i see many users using the bot and their number is increasing by time, and i see that the bot is working using a forum account who sends and receives messages from/to subscribers; i know that there is a limitation for sending messages in the forum setup. Does the bot accout have special powers authorized by admin or the increase of the number of subscribers may negatively affect the function of the bot? Two, what if my username have been quoted in a reply quoted in another reply which have been quoted n another reply... should i still receive notifications?

What is the encoding of the bot's notifications? I realised that it messes up any characters that are not included in the English/Latin alphabet. Are there any plans to convert everything to UTF-8? I really like the simplistic approach on seeing who tagged me, when they tagged me and what were their first few sentences but as a Turkish user, because Turkish has a lot of special characters, everything is jumbled.

I've asked this already in the past, and nope, this is very hardly doable.  
Yes, Maggiordomo is amazing and I love the bot as well ! It is so convenient.

However I'd gladly pass on being notified everytime game-not-protect pastes his list of "extremely mentally ill or brain dead bitcointalk account".
Anyone who supports a flag against them will get on that list since he just copy/pastes from the flag he got.

It would be a great feature if there was a way to not receive notifications when certain people mention my name or quote my messages. Sort of like an ignore list.

Suggestion: create a separate topic for ignore lists, something like Add comments to Flags on LoyceV's Trust Flag viewer. The bot can scrape the thread for posts once in a while, and users can just update their list in their post.
If it helps, I can create a thread, scrape it for you, and output usernames (or userIDs) in txt-files somewhere on loyce.club.
