Me and a group of enthusiasts passionate about trading and cryptocurrencies have an idea to build a wiki-like free project about world of crypto trading.

Now we are gathering ideas on what articles and guides to include first to help beginners to get into the world of crypto trading! We believe that well structured and consistent educational project will boost learning curve of non-experienced traders and will fill the gaps in knowledge of more proficient individuals!

We have some views about what kind of information to include, but we really would like to hear ideas from different people with various levels of expertise and experience. Whenever if you only started your way into crypto trading and feeling that you miss something or you have to share some ideas based on your rich experience and - please discuss!

We appreciate any posts - the more the better but would like to ask you to prioritise your ideas!

Since you're targeting beginners, you have to go beyond trading at the beginning and start from creating guides around how crypto-currencies work in general (before diving into the world of "trading"). After that, you can focus on terms (glossary) > Risks (in general + how to deal with securing assets) and things that contribute in affecting the crypto market > Difference between platform types > A check list for eliminating fake platforms.

Initially I wanted to suggest contributing to "BTCitcoin wiki's" website (since it's similar to what you're trying to do here) but it appears they've stopped giving "edit privileges (lately)".

Just do it.

Wiki is a blank paper where people contribute directly to the project. It does not take much discussion before if you already have the main feature needed, which is hosting.

I believe that putting the main indicators in a well-structured and familiar way would be very useful. But there are already several websites on this. So what would really be needed would be adaptations to cryptocurrencies, which have very unusual characteristics like pump and dumps, trading schedules etc.

You better put those basic information first and where to start like what is cryptocurrency, how blockchain works, transaction fee (formula), what is bitcoin and how altcoin was created, what is crypto wallet and types of wallets (advance and for beginners wallet / hard and hot wallet), how those the price changes, how to turn crypto currency to fiat currency or vice versa. For advance information, that might be about trading related topics.

Ideas like this one are often very successful in long run. Look at Google and other websites that had a minor idea behind it before the launch and with the passage of time, as you grow with the progressing world, more and more people get attracted to your forum and use it for different purposes.

Besides, this very idea to make a wiki-like free project to assist the new comers in the crypto world in trading can spread long and wide and can become a centre of learning before getting into trade. Good luck!

This idea is super, you should put all details about crypto from very first day of bitcoin upto now and keep adding important historic events so that new comers as well as senior crypto enthusiasts will have reason to visit your wiki-crypto website whenever there comes any related subject in our mind.

this sounds like a great idea but with further thinking I am wondering that with existence of a lot of good websites (even wiki-like websites) about trading, for example the famous investopedia website, what more are you going to offer?
there are two parts to trading cryptocurrencies. first is the general aspect of trading which investopedia covers excellently. and the second part is specific to cryptocurrencies which again investopedia has multiple articles about.
the only thing I see lacking is the concept of pump and dumps which everyone knows they exist but sometimes they want to pretend it is not.

yes, I agree with that, the longer we need the term that has been in cryptocurrency, so it's not just about trading, all terms that are not understood by ordinary people will be answered by a website that contains knowledge like this

but it is "bitcoin" wiki not "cryptocurrency" wiki (by the way to OP, it is cryptocurrency trading not crypto trading, crypto means something else. don't use them interchangeably).
and that wiki is focusing on what bitcoin is, not how to trade it and make fiat profit! i'd say such topics have no room in this wiki.

How about opening the beginners eye on the different exchanges we have and give them the difference between centralize and de-centralize exchange and advantages/disadvantages? You can also discusses the risk of keeping huge funds in an exchanges. And then slowly introduce them to order books, stop losses. And if you wanted to go Technicals then you can add that to the last section as well.

The best addition you could do should be the difference between the exchanges and the 24 hour lows and highs of those exchanges and differences. I know it is a wiki type website but nothing stops you from putting up exchanges there as well like coinmarketcap , it would not be fitting the idea of crypto wiki website however it would definitely help.

Aside from that the amount of people you have writing there and editing there will decide on if it will live or not. You can't write about everything yourself, there is no way for you to find that much research time and manhours to put into a website so the thing you have to do is to get people to write there and edit the written stuff. The more info you have there the more visitors you will get.

The trouble here is that normal wikipedia has a lot of stuff informed in bitcoin anyway so there is a huge competition.

Hey everyone, thanks for responses and your feedback!

We totally understand that we cannot cover everything by ourselves and we will allow users to contribute, no doubt about that!
However, we really would like to start with something. Trading and cryptocurrencies trading, in particular, is no joke since the one putting own money in it. We believe that at first iteration we should have enough information to provide value for people without any knowledge or with little knowledge of the subject. So we don't want to cover everything but we want to have a very solid core of a coherent and holistic set of articles - so people would have everything to avoid rookie mistakes and get a crystal clear understanding of how markets work - both cryptocurrencies(1 st priority) and FIATs(second priority) markets . We want to put some efforts and time into this initial material to have a good start and get some people to our future community 

Also, for later on we were thinking about some advanced formats - like videos and free webinars with experienced traders - how do you think will add more value to an educational project?

It is indeed a very rich one, and even though it is not like we do not have something close like investopedia, at the same time, it is not a bad idea at all, considering that information cannot be too much and judging from the fact that with this being a sort after platform based on the content available freely on it, it would really go a long way for both newbies seeking for knowledge as well as professionals getting to gain more knowledge as time goes on.

What the team should be focused as well about should be some of the risks involved in trading, how to go about it, some need for certain knowledge and so on. I believe the team should be able to come up with something great anyway. At least, the idea of wiki is to have people coming to share knowledge on certain subjects or all subjects as the case may be and I believe it should be rich.

I guess you can structure this with different topics first and then divide it for the simplicity.

For example,

Crypto Currency,
Different type of them,
Bitcoin,
Altcoin,
Creators, Founder of different projects,

I guess you can also add up completely different section for the purpose of talks regarding the ICO projects. This can interest most of the people for sure.

There is no limit for these things and how far it can be expanded.

Even this forum could be used to get all the details about the cryptocurrency right from the start. It is just few clicks away. Besides, see this can be your future source of income as well.

Think of it being free in the start for the visitors and suppose it catches good attention and is well received, you might also charge subscription fee that will allow you make big money in long run. Crypto is not the only place to earn money. Services related to crypto can be instrumental in making you rich.

It is a beautiful idea I must say, considering this would be more centered on those who will need a full understanding of all they need to know about trading and will be free to all.

I can tell it would really go a long way as a lot of people tend to seek knowledge about trading every single day and having a place like a wiki for trading in which you get most information and questions you need to ask is a pretty good one as far as I am concerned. This would be more like a more accessible investopedia if I may say.
