It was like 10 years when Lehman Brothers collapsed followed by a global and economic disaster. But we have to thank that this event has happened otherwise Satoshi wouldn't created Bitcoin in the first place. It was the catalyst for him to invent a P2P currency without any intermediary (usually banks), and to operate without any government's intervention, thus decentralization.

Personally though, I was affected by this event, was laid out after September 2008 and was out of job for about a month. I was caught by surprised because there's some assurance that we wouldn't be affected, but damn we are totally wrong.

How about you guys, you directly affected by it? Do you think that if Lehman was saved by US government, Satoshi wouldn't push to create bitcoin? Or it is inevitable? The man himself will release it with or without the financial meltdown in 2008?

This day changed my life forever.  When George Bush on national tv said We need to take control of the free market to save it I knew right then and there the entire system was all bullshit and lies.  I had my awakening that day.  Unfortunately my wife was pregnant at the time and I brought a soul into this mess.  I promptly quit my job and removed myself from the system.  I build my own home by hand,   home school my child and grow my own food.  It's only a matter of time until this controlled central banker hell collapses and there is no way in hell I want to be any where near the system or rely on any part of it when it starts falling apart.

What you are telling about the  2008 financial disaster and no one was knowing about bitcoin that time , it was in main steam from 2011 so who ever was affected in 2008 were not able to get help from bitcoin. Not only you almost 90% of the world financial system got affected in 2008 disaster.

Satoshi started working on Bitcoin in 2007, he actually said that he wrote whitepaper after he developed the software. Also, Bitcoin had many predecessors from the previous years, so the movement for decentralized money was there long before the Lehman Brothers collapse and the 2008 crisis. The philosophy of decentralized money is not about simply distrusting the government and banks, it's about not trusting anyone with your money. It's probably just a coincidence that Bitcoin was launched during the crisis.

agree, it think satoshi nakamoto didn't create bitcoin as a result of the economic meltdown that the op is saying, the system being decentralized i think was not perfected overnight, nakamoto surely have been studying the technology way long before the meltdown. and i have read that bitcoin was intended only for online use, since nakamoto have forecasted that internet use will be globally patronized, ah history, no one really knows.

Obviously, no one can get help from bitcoin because during that time, Satoshi hasn't publicly released it. What I'm trying to tell is that the global meltdown in 2008 may have greatly influence him to immediately   roll-out his invention to us.

@gambitcoin53 - I understand that he already made a lot of progress prior to the disaster, but he could have been released it sometime before, however, in the next couple of months after the fall of Lehman's and the subsequent effect in brought, made me theorized that it has impacted him in his decisions to deliver it right away in early 2009.
