None of this has to do with "free speech" if you're talking about the recent changes to ranking up.  Members can still post whatever they like, and you know that.  This forum has the most tolerance for dissenting ideas and use of language than any I've ever been a part of.  In addition, it's the idiots who don't make any sense when they write things that brought about this change.

Nothing, and we all know it.  I would also add that what happened today has been batted around for months now in Meta, and all of these garbage shitposters had diddly squat to say about it then, if they even read those threads to begin with, which they most likely did not.

My posts were not awarded with merit   and I purchased today the rank of Copper Member

Your posts were mostly based on the local section and bounty reports so you need to wait for your local member boards to find your valuable posts and merit them until that you just keep posting some valuable posts and try to engage in the discussion rather than just posting or commenting to any threads.

Admin policy is final, of course with very careful consideration, especially negative effects, with a good goal therefore the rules are positive to continue posting the Forum to a better level, of course going forward,

I'm highly in support of  this new improvement, though it really affected me also because i was demoted to the newbies Rank, i always makes all my post constructively but to my supprised known of the higher Ranks has never try to look my side just for once to give out  merit to me in other to encourage my effort as a Newbie and its vividly against the Bitcointalk Merit Rules to pleaded for Merit.
My Opinion to the  S'Merit Holders is to try and Encourage the Hardwork and Sensible Post in other to remove punishment to those who are actually serious.
I will not relent and I won't be tired in making my good post.

You have the same rights as everyone else, that includes the right to be better.

Glad to see something has changed, 5 merits probably would have been a better choice for the rank up; but I respect the decision to balance the need for change and not creating to big a barrier for new users starting out.

I must say though that I can't believe how many of these shitposters have already received their 1 needed merit(in this thread alone). I get that everyone is entitled to send merit out as they see fit, but some need to give their head a shake. This is one of the few barriers that can actually do something to prevent the spam from continuing to get worse.

There will already be enough accounts out there merit swapping/trading/buying to get around this restriction. Some people need to realize, not rewarding the whiner looking for 1 merit is good for the forum, and the whiner if they chose to be better.

With this regulation, on the other hand there are advantages and disadvantages in this regulation. The advantage is that it prevents the occurrence of new multi accounts where there are now a lot of bounty hunters who commit fraudulent actions in the campaign and with this regulation make / improve the quality of posts for the progress of this forum. The drawback is that with new regulations that prioritize getting merit it is very difficult and I myself have never gotten merit from these bitcointalk forum friends.

Great new rule, I love it.  This should definitely help reduce the signature and bounty spamming.  I think I would have come down with a heavier hand and made it 5 merits to rank up.

It will only be unfair if you are on the middle of a signature campaign and there's nothing to worry about it everything is for the forum's sake. Spam will not be generated anymore.

I don't think requiring merit will make much difference to the quality on here, just look at some of the posts in this thread from high level members lol.

This is better than just new merit sources, also coming with more harshness to 0 merited posters, which is also great..
I don't think it is too harsh and could be harsher as hilarious suggests so be grateful, it could be worse..
Their really isn't much point in complaining about it newbs, because if you can't get 1 merit, you need to do some serious self reflection..

BTW this somewhat renders things I have recently posted about sources giving higher numbers obsolete, this is ultimately a better solution if it proves to be enough..

Maybe this will also lessen the contrary opinion to a youtube channel

I am sure this will definitely get a response, especially for junior member account holders
who have been downgraded so that they are now beginners, including me
But I believe that the decision of this problem has been well thought out by the moderator
So what is expected from this forum to produce useful and quality posts can be maintained without being filled with junk posts that are only for the sake of pursuing post targets for the signature campaign regardless of the quality of the post itself.
Hopefully, in the future this forum will be much better, there is nothing perfect in this world, but a change if it is felt necessary and must be for something much better, why not?

Admins!!! What you have done will lead to the fact that now massively will sell merit and who will not share it! Or you are interested in it themselves( to sell merit)? What you have done I believe is illegal! Think again, while the community has not found another forum!!!

There will be definitely a lot of Merit trading will happen, but as long as there are some good members who helps Moderators and the community, we will catch those Merit traders. Oh anyway, what do you mean that it's "illegal"?   And what? You're telling theymos to think again? This is a made up decision and I'm sure Admin won't regret anything on implementing it. Also, who cares if spammers go look for another forum? It would be great actually.

I find myself agreeing with the rationale behind these changes, of course there was no way of going ahead based on how things were a few months bac prior to the introduction of merits.  However, my complain then and now is, it seems to me that the majority of people tend to hoard merits.   In many cases, note worthy posts some of which i can claim i have made, have gone unnoticed nor merited by anybody.  

Obviously i accept this is the state of play as posts are merely opinions really and at best subjective.   I guess my point is whilst this is a necessary system and an effective improvement, i think further tweaks may be necessary to make earning merits methodically achievable.   As things stands, i would argue that some of the best comments/posts have not all been merited therefore folks who may deserve it are not getting the merits they deserve.

Using myself as an example, i would like to think that many of my posts have been helpful/insightful for some people yet haven't received any merits for any of them.  I could be wrong, but i wound't mind anyone taking a look at my posts and if it turns out i don't deserve any merits, feedback on quality would be appreciated.

It's quite obvious that you didn't get any Merits for your posts bounty reports. People here didn't want to waste their sMerits for just underworld reports.

Many of these limitations can be eliminated with a copper membership. In particular, you can set a signature at Member level if you wear a copper membership.

I even supprised to see how High_ASD has able to wear a signature since he is a newbie and is it anything to do with copper membership? If so it has to be changed.
