It would take a while for the forum to be 'cleaned up'.
As new posts has to be made to replace the existing spam. The outrage was expected.
The new system doesn't really give you much of a choice than to make quality posts... Of course you could just read through and grab the information available.

LOL im not one of those who cried. Actually i was very happy and fully support with the new rules imposed by theymos. Just look at the brighter side less spam and very informative community. As a newbie we should explore the forum since we are new here there's a ton of information that you can acquired here if you fully support the blockchain technology.

Although I think the new mechanism will help the development of the forum, such a mechanism can easily make beginners passive because they cannot participate in any activities!

That's the problem of most newbies. Most of you don't read the rules and guidelines after joining in bitcointalk.

Please read this to avoid unecessary question.

A system was necessary in order to stop the auto-canibalizing of the forums as more and more new members joined massively in the last year just to post garbage (I don't consider myself to make good posts in average neither but I'm still learning and hope to improve in the future). On the other hand, if I'm not wrong the changes in the merit mechanisms aren't announced in advance, maybe in order to avoid abuse from members who try to fix the situation before these mechanisms are in force, but it feels like we can get our accounts bashed out suddenly at any time and this is not comforting at all at least imo.
