Blockchain is basically a network of computers called nodes which all have same history of transactions. So instead of one company or a database which holds all the information, now the information is spread across whole of the network. Whenever a transaction occurs, that is validated by everyone and is put ahead in that history of transactions in that network. And it's tamper proof.

At a time when such a restriction is implemented, it doesn't makes sense whatsoever when a senior member/s are rewarding merits without going through a user/s post history.

This is why we need more than a one merit requirement. One is fine for merely moving up from Newbie to Junior, but not to get a signature and to be able to earn from them here. One half decent post or copy and paste can get you that sole merit that you need then you're good to go and carry on with the shitposting, but it's obviously ten times harder to get ten merit. Signatures should be removed from Juniors completely because one merit is nothing and doesn't and shouldn't qualify you to earn via posting here. Ten is a different matter. I would even argue that signatures should only be available to much higher ranked members who have actually achieved a substantial amount of merit and that really would be a reward for those who contribute something valuable here and for those that don't then sorry, but you can't earn from posting. The forum would be a much cleaner place if this was to happen but with this tiny change it's not going to clean up the forum by much, just throw a small spanner in the works or some, but once they get that merit they'll carry on as usual and revert to shitposting if campaigns will keep paying them for it.

Doesn't/wouldn't work. They can already do that but as long as something can be put in their signature ICO crap campaigns can and will pay them for it. We need to force their hand by removing it completely so nothing can be put there so there's nothing for them to be paid for. Juniors can't even have a link in their sig but Junior accounts are being farmed in their thousands to take advantage that campaigns will pay them for any spam they can be bothered to make (or copy and paste). I do hope theymos will remove their signatures at some point because it effects their ability to post zero and they can still purchase a Copper Membership to get a Member-level signature anyway, but I would argue Copper should just include some basic whitelisting features because it's too cheap as it is. We could introduce Silver and Gold ranks that are more expensive and include Full/Hero-member benefits instead.

The new rule is quite good, at least for me. I know many people create an account to spam. And when they are enough possible activity, they will be upgraded to Jr member. This is unfair if someone "farm" Jr Member to do signature bounty campaign. Now, you must post a quality post to receive merit

Without quoting any of the posts in this thread relevant to my point (because there certainly are a LOT of them), and at the risk of being flamed to a crisp, I get the need to eradicate spam and garbage shit posts - and I support that effort. But how is it that so many members tout the high and mighty objective of the forum (being to learn about and/or educate others about Bitcoin with informative and instructive posts)... and so many bitch and whine and moan about how much site content and resources are wasted by bounty hunting signature campaign spammers... Many newbies and jr. members are stereotyped as shitpost spammers; but there are some higher ranked members who come across as elitist asshats also who take any alternative viewpoint as a challenge to their manhood.

In many ways, I think it is much easier to navigate past a thread topic title that I can tell just by looking at it is going to be a waste of my time spam thread -- and I can choose to skip it.  But there is no easy way to identify and wade through the mindless insults fired back and forth in a thread like this one...

I'm not calling out anyone by name and just talking in generalities.  But it seems to me that both the pot and the kettle are black. Why is one practice demonized and the other welcomed when both have the same end result of diluting the constructive and informative posts for those who really just want to chat about Bitcoin?

This should be in the works. Either that or increasing the requirement. These shitposters think whining will get them sympathy votes. We saw this same thing happening when the merit system was introduced. They like to argue on this much-abused, typical left-liberal plank of "But we are all equal, aren't we".  The answer is "No! We are not all equal on this forum."

If the whiners could have paused for a second and removed the greed of accruing free money/ tokens, they would have realized what a great place the forum actually is. They would have noticed that people with deep knowledge of Mathematics, Computer Science, Cryptography and with novel and radical opinions on the role money ought to play in society spent their time here. If they were here for anything else other than copy-pasting reports or increasing post-count, they would have learnt to act better.

I joined here after reading about one of the signature campaigns. I spent my share of time being blinded by the promises of quick buck and posting those "reports." Seeing responses on the ANN threads i used to visit as a new member, I started asking questions about post quality and spam problems. I started reading the debate and discussions at r/bitcoin, nakamotoinstitute.org, bitcoin.org and the other old stuff. I got involved and took my position on bitcoin's importance for the world and society. I now wish to go deeper into the technical aspects and dedicate a portion of my time to learn.

I share my experience so some of you too can realize  that learning about the technology and the ideas behind it is a much better prospect in the long term than simply spamming the forum for crumbs. This will surely not make any difference to those with bot armies but it should to people who are actually looking to be part of the future. Those who would learn from this latest change will be better-off in the long run. Those who are just going to raise this immature hue and cry about the place being unfair, not being EQUAL enough or trying to be some sort of left-leaning revolutionary here will get what they deserve in time.

It is so strange seeing accounts created in 2015 chastising people for being newbies on this forum. 

When i first hear about bitcointalk forum i dont know there is some kind of bounty which i can earn some bucks . At first i wasnt familiar with bitcoin so i just join the forum and read the post of senior members to gain more knowledge about bitcoin. After that bounty attracts my mind and i  joined the different bounty camping and didnt post any thing in this forum except my report in bounty camping which is just garbage. So till now  my merit is zero i realize my mistake. After the rules is implement that one merit is necessary to become jr member i demoted to newbie. Then my main focus is to gain merit but right now honestly I am enjoying in this forum by participating in different discussion which for sure invoke my knowledge in the field of Crypto as well as i also share some my experience in the forum. I am not native English speaker my English is not good so far though i am also focusing to improve my English language so i can make quality post.

May be those account created in 2015 also made same mistake i have done so they demoted to newbie.
