We have such a contest. It's called "Who can make the most insightful, informative, or otherwise useful post?".

I regret to inform you that you are not a winner.

No.  Merit should not be used as a currency.  Otherwise merit sources could make money by meriting garbage posts, and merit would mean nothing.

In simple words, Merit is not a Prize, hence a Contest won't make any sense, according to me..

Members will start to loose the faith on the Members having Merit, if it's achieved via. a Contest.

You see, Prize is a thing given as a reward to the winner of a competition, however that's not the case with a Merit.

Merit means the quality of being particularly good or worthy, especially so as to deserve praise or reward.
So you need to Gain/Achieve it with a good Topic/Post, not otherwise with a Competition..

There are members in this Forum who have worked hard, invested their valuable time with Quality Post to gain that Level, which they hold today.
If people start to get Merit with a Contest instead, they it may also sound unfair to them.

Note: That's just my point of view..

There is always someone who will benefit from my post and he will appreciate it.
Correct, Merits is not a currency, it's a gratitude for quality content.

this forum isnt rational

i recently got distrust for offering a group to reward them with merit if they create an information research around the cryptocurrency review sites.

merit is constantly given for information posted here

there is no problem if someone uses his freedom of oppinion to express what would him be worth merit or not.

otherwise we wont get a section of so called merit hunters as forum users

This is so funny, I can't help myself from commenting how funny it is.  Grin
btw, I think this merit system is actually helpful in spreading good contents here in the forum.
