As we notice that almost all the altcoins follow the price of bitcoin . I'm just wondering when they will become independent and don't follow the bitcoin price?

They are independent, they just need better marketing campaign and better understanding of cryptocurrency market for possible investors. This is the only way.

As we notice that almost all the altcoins follow the price of bitcoin . I'm just wondering when they will become independent and don't follow the bitcoin price?

Maybe you should take another look at the coins' price movement. In fact, the alts almost never strictly follow the price of Bitcoin. For example today, when Bitcoin's 24 hrs change is +0.56%, XRP's change is +4.24%, Tezos' change is -1.38%, Bitcoin Gold's change is +7.49%, etc. And none of the coins from CoinMarketCap Top 100 has changed exactly as Bitcoin did. So, as you can see, they are already independent in a way.

But of course when Bitcoin undergoes significant changes altcoins follow, and this happens mainly because alts are traded for BTC in most places. When altcoins will be traded for fiat or for other than BTC cryptos the correlation may become not that obvious.

Also we have to keep in mind that Bitcoin is the most trusted cryptocurrency in the world and thus even if all the other alts were traded for fiat already, I think there still would be some correlation between their price and that what happens to Bitcoin.

I believe that this is already happening. already there is no such peg as before. just there used to be more investment in bitcoin, and it has already bought altcoins, now passes more transactions of fiat in altcoins. Smiley

It takes time. Now bitcoin rule them all because bitcoins marketcap is really big. YOu know the dominance is around 50 percentage. I believe in next 3 or 4 years things can be more different than now.
And i believe some altcoins stop following bitcoins price.

Each time I check the crypto market I see the following situation: when Bitcoin is rising, altcoins are going up as well. I think, they still depend on their leader, BTC, and it will last for many years.

The did not follow the Bitcoin price in 2017. They are following the Bitcoin price, because the majority of investors and putting their funds in Bitcoin, because it is the most stable coin at the moment. As soon as the market turns green, things will change.

what I understand is, the altcoin doesn't try to keep up with the price of bitcoin but has the same hope that their altcoins can be used in various payment platforms like bitcoin today. they should know that the altcoin can be used in the altcoin theme (food & beverage for example). so its abnormal if they're trying to use it to pay outside of it

Any new currency is forced to follow another major's price like Bitcoin, US Dollar, etc.

The problem you have seen on altcoins is that such coins follow the Bitcoin price in an evident direct correlation. In case of tokens, they are forced to follow the price of their blockchain's coin price and such blockchain are used to follow the Bitcoin price.

Another problem of altcoins is that they let the price to run on exchanges, being speculative value the primary component of their price instead a real value generated by its adoption in the real world.

The answer for a right investment is to find a currency designed to create real value by its adoption in a worldwide community.  An example is Triplay: a token designed as part of a complete set of applications you can find at triplay.io

Triplay founder has been a special interest into break the direct correlation from any other cryptocurrency; so, the entire Triplay ecosystem has been developed focused in the US Dollar for price reference, to avoid any correlation with Bitcoin or with its carrier blockchain and to create real value for investors willing to earn money to finance their spends on their real live.

How many conversations were on this topic, but still continues to disturb the minds. You can trace the analogy, as with the usual currency. All currencies are worth a dollar. And it will be maintained as long as it is required for certain forces. The same can be traced with Bitcoin.

I think it is the time when most of the world know about cryptocurrencies, thus BTC's market domination is less than 5% (10% dominance for BTC can also rule other altcoins). So I don't think it would happen in near future.

if bitcoin market dominance drop till only 10% or lesser. the altcoin will most likely not control by bitcoin price. but another coin will emerge as leading coin. market still need a coin being a reference.

Most altcoins are tied to the price of Bitcoin, so they fluctuate in price with it. They simply don’t bargain for assets other than Bitcoin. If they could be traded for ordinary money, then they would not be so affected by Bitcoin.

The reason why altcoins follow bitcoin price is very simple. In most cases the investors don't know much about the projects that are behind the altcoins, so they don't react much  nor on good nor bad news, they just follow bitcoin price and if bitcoin goes down they sell.

This is known as the foundation of the whole volcano and everything is shaking during an earthquake, and not just one part of it. So it seems that this will never happen, unless you destroy everything.

Today cryptocurrency become popular only because of Bitcoin and Bitcoin is going to be a dominant currency which we cannot able expect the prices of Bitcoin. In order to get popular by themselves, they need to prove themselves in the market in order to become more popular.

I think that this will not happen soon. Altcoins are very dependent on the price of Bitcoin and constantly follow it. This will continue for a long time.

the fact is that this market is very speculative and even ETH drops when Bitcoin drops. all altcoins really depend on it

I think altcoin will be an independent coin and will continue to do great marketing to be able to have better value without being influenced by the price of bitcoin. Every coin will strive for it to stay afloat and continue to grow so as to add to the community.

It is a general, widely accepted case, which will be difficult for people to forget about, and as long as people believe in this trend, there is a good chance it will exist. Maybe if some other coin would surpass Bitcoin, than it could be a "game changer".

I see the market now altcoin price is almost the opposite of the price of BTC and ETH, I found that once the price of BTC down, the price of altcoin increased, in terms of converting from pennies to ETH or BTC The prices we discount are higher.
