and HOW did you boot from sd card? i copied the image on the sd card but miner wont boot from it. i have s9i ..

If you have a Linux computer, you can just flash the os via terminal. Download the latest version for s9i. Go to the folder and then open a terminal from within that folder. And copy and paste the instal instructions from the link provided by the wiki. It does it for you.

I am running this on multiple s9s off the SD card. None of them are S9i or S9j's.

Does this mean flashing to the controller is for the s9i? Because it runs fine from SD card on all of mine.

maybe off topic but I did flash S9j firmware to all my S9 and all are working fine, less power, less heat and lower fan speeds. no issues at all.

Hi Apprentice,

How did you managed to flash S9 with S9i firmware? I have managed to use microSD card with 2nd partition formated as ext4 so at least I am able to save configuration.

Cheers,

I will stay temporary with SD cards. Did you overclocked your miners? I am running 4 of them @650MHz and 2@675HMz. I need to know the safe frequency ;p
Also I have noticed that all miners running Braiins are very quiet. Will stay with Braiins.

Hank

Im running mine at 700. They are all 13.5 TH runits running around 15TH now. The power draw is a bit high so I wouldnt recommend it on a bitmain PSU. I am running 2450w PSUs with plenty of head room.

@braiins could you please weigh-in/respond to the questions and concerns raised so far in this thread? You specifically requested to have all discussion of your OS occur in this thread and then disappeared.

Yes, that would be nice. There is lot of questions....
So i can´t see which frequency my boards are running?
How can i see my fan speeds? Adjust my fan speeds?
How low/high are my HW errors?
I run with a SD card, so can i update the firmware in GUI to the SD card when a new version is out? Or i have to take the SD card out and put the new version on it with my computer?
Thanks.

Hello guys, sorry for the late response, we are working hard on the next release and definitely evaluating your feedback.

If you have some specific issue, it is always good to contact us directly via support ticket.

Antminer S9

Complete support for S9 (not only S9i) is our top priority right now, it should be out pretty soon.

As for overclocking, you can change the frequency, however, we do not feel confident to recommend any safe values. Be cautious. We are also working on voltage control so you can get a better grip of the overclocking.

We learned that many people do not know where pins/jumpers are and how to adjust them. We will update the guide accordingly. Please see this instructional pictures: https://imgur.com/a/dCUjXin

It is our goal to replace the closed bitstream and we are researching it, however, it is a difficult task and will surely take some time.

Installing Braiins OS via Antminer web interface is not possible, sorry.

DragonMint T1

Many T1s, unfortunately, does not have SD slot and we were not completely aware of it. While you can flash it directly into the built-in flash memory, we do not recommend it at the moment since it is alpha.

Support for other devices

Currently, we are focusing on Bitcoin only and want to polish support for Bitcoin mining devices before moving anywhere else. Thank you for the testing offers though!

What exactly isn't working on the s9s? I have it flashed directly to my s9 13.5th version. Everything works. Frequency over clocking, graphs, is there something that I'm missing?

No I used the over Lan instructions they provided. But there's a edit you need to make in a config file so it allows your antminer s9 model to be recognized by the flasher to complete the transfer

Would you mind telling everyone what this edit is? The software seems to run great except for only being able to run it off the SD card, during the flash to controller it seemed to throw errors, as an example the 4th post in this thread.

The issue with me saying the edit, is that they won't provide you with any support, and you won't have the ability to fix it yourself without any help if something were to go wrong. And I sure can't help because I didn't have issues so I wouldn't know even how to help you.

But, the files they provide can be opened with notepad, one has a check for your model ID of the s9. It's looking for S9i. Any other model that gets returned, throws an exception and won't install.

It's an alpha firmware anything can get screwed up and become unrecoverable even if you follow the instructions to the letter. It's run at your own risk.

The file that you edited was in the firmware folder and was called Control and it was the top line for anyone else that wants to know.

To get it working there are two options
1) testing with an SD card, it doesn't matter what firmware you are running on the controller it will boot and run from the SD card.
2) Flashing directly to the control board, the miner must match what is in the control file mentioned above.

To flash you cannot be running the firmware from the SD card, the scripts do not copy any data from the SD card and only from your computer. You can either run it from the SD card where settings are not saved after reboot OR you can follow the instructions for flashing the control board with the braiins os.
