Will Ethereum fail if Vitalik dies?

In that scenario i think eth will crash for the moment but then it will bounce back because eth is not a proprietory project its a decentralized company owned by investors and holders, so principally the project will continue even if someone disappears, just see how btc is continuously developed without the real person or brain that was originally behind it.

I agree Ethereum is still a strong coin and there are second developers and other developers whho can take up the job Buterin left if ever, this is the beauty od decentralization, any one can take up the development of the coin and the project can still continue.

I think that now not one Vitalik is working on the project, so even if something happens to him, at first it may affect the price of the coin, and then everything will return to normal. He's the face of the company, but he's not the only one working on it.

i tuink taht ecerything will he fine with ethereum as this cryptcurrency is nice and it will live a long happy life

Why? it is not all about vitalik, ETH has a team!
they will keep develop the coins.
Look on BTC, we dont know what is the identity of creator or if he is dead! but still keep working.
Cryptocurrency will die or that single token not because the creator dies but if the demand is gone!

Ethereum is a coin that is quite legendary in my opinion. The founder's footsteps and development should continue to be fought for and continue to be fully supported by many people who have positive values in this regard. Whatever happens, hopefully ETH will continue to grow.

I agree with you, maybe for a moment the news about this could have an impact on the price of ethereum. but after that everything will return to normal.

that is a black swan. And we all know that ethereum's genius is vitalik, and when he dies a lot of people will lose their faith on ethereum. Because vitalik buterin is the brain behind the ethereum so it will really affect the price.

Vitalik may be the brain behind the Ethereum project, but there are other talented developers which are currently working to make Ethereum better than ever as a cryptocurrency for the masses. If Vitalik dies, then the project would go on as intended, due to the full support from its community. Of course, people who don't understand how cryptocurrencies work, will quickly associate the founder's death with the death of the Ethereum project itself. However, we all know that's not the case, since Ethereum was designed as a decentralized cryptocurrency.

This means that Ethereum will evolve for many years to come. Vitalik is only there as an advisor, but it could easily be replaced by another person. What really matters is the longevity of the project as a decentralized blockchain system that could execute smart contracts without middleman. If Ethereum remains as is, then it'll be successful in the future.

Nonetheless, Vitalik's death may cause the price per ETH to decline for a while, until everything settles. By then, people will actively demand the "Ether" cryptocurrency to interact with other ERC-20/ERC-721 tokens or dApps. Which means that Ethereum will become a widely usable cryptocurrency in the long term. Just my thoughts

Yes. Ethereum is gaining popularity each day, although usage on the network has decreased (compared to last year's figures). I believe that the next step for Ethereum to gain traction, is to adopt Casper PoS and Sharding for greater scalability. If at some point in the future Vitalik dies, then the project should continue its own course. The vast number of developers working on it, and users supporting it, is enough for Ethereum to survive for many years.

However, as I've said before, people will react negatively towards Ethereum once Vitalik is dead. Prices will struggle to rise within a short time period. Just as FUD is happening with Bitcoin nowadays, the same will happen with Ethereum without Vitalik. Only after that, Ethereum will slowly recover in terms of price and adoption, due to its openness and decentralized nature.

That's the beauty of Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies, which will allow them to survive for future generations. Otherwise, if they were 100% centralized, they'd face certain struggles that will become impossible for them to rise from the ground. Therefore, I believe that Ethereum will become better after Vitalik is out of the picture. Just my opinion

If something like the death of a crypto icon and the Godfather of ethereum happens, I think the whole market will feel its impact, not least because of it's effect on ERC 20 tokens which dominates over 70% of the total cryptos on the coinmarketcap.

In actuality I don't think it will have any effect on the performance of ethereum itself technically but a lot of FOMO will surely be going around.

However, this fomo will die Eventually the market will recover and life will go on.

The effect will be temporary.
