I won't even try to solve this as I'm an idiot (I could have enough money from crypto for few years but I sold instead hodling etc.) but I found this very interesting:

On top of this I too received all those free airdrops and I decided it would be fun to make someone else happy with it. Bitcoin already changed my life. Almost a year later, this bitcoin challenge was born. Yes most, not all, of the 310 BTC offer comes from free airdrops.

SEARCH NO FURTHER (through the threads) to get up to speed on this incredibly mind bending and thrilling challenge.

I’ve read through the 310 BTC Challenge Reddit and Bitcointalk threads in their entirety and gathered info from a discord group I’m in, while trying to share value myself.  I’ve recorded a list of theories, clues, tools and such for solving this.

Pip said, “Hints will come if I don't see progress.” And, “Don't expect to find it in just a few hours or days but if you do, you're very good!”


I suspect there are things on the image to lead people astray and the answer may be perhaps right under our eyes. 

Here’s a list of possible clues or pieces to the puzzle I’ve gathered:

•   Pip says it can only PARTLY be solved by printing the image, not using software – was stated by the creator of the challenge as his first HINT – I think for much of this you need a computer, and the “partly” part seems to be minimal.  Especially being as you need to check the hash or any mnemonic phrase.  It seems that hidden Bitcoin are only to be found by techy genius dudes.  No fair!  Can we have a real treasure hunt?  Maybe put it in cold storage where people have to find map coordinates to find it.  Wait!  Are there map coordinates in this image?  Lol

•   One user said: “I believe that the creator hid the 4 payloads in the picture which require all sorts of trickery [i.e. image extraction experienced – messing with layers and RGB and jazz] to find but the keys to unlock these payloads are all in plain sight.”  I like this theory!!

•   People have speculated there is more than one binary string: “the 840 last LSB are a perfect match of the alpha layer base 64” – this is found in the grid with red pixels.  Another user said, “the bitstring hidden in the alpha channel is double base 64 encoded. So there might be different bases to use to solve the entire puzzle.”  Another user stated, “…the smaller string is included in the bigger one.” Some have speculated that there’s a string embedded in the bottom line of the grid https://imgur.com/a/e7IBOSF

•   BTCChallenge said: Once I knew where to look, I quickly figured out that this bitstring is a base-64 encoded, OpenSSL-encrypted string. I'm assuming that this is the already claimed 0.1 BTC key though. I'd like to crack it nonetheless.  3N7E1fPmE4Bznb5HNu8KtRnMX1pPvr7itN

•   Oct 2 2018 – date of the challenge’s release and written on the image in small letters – used to decode the first address.  SEE BELOW

•   Pip says to: “Input SHA256 of all data on a SINGLE LINE” – on his email page found through the QR code– the question is, what is “the data you got so far”? QR leads here: https://bitcoinchallenge.codes/register-310/  It seems you can also use it to verify if your hash is correct.

•   You may have to solve the first three keys with smaller rewards to access the big one – makes me think of Ready Player 1.  Pip said: “People are posting hashes to the "hidden" page url.  Let me tell you one thing: Don't bother posting there if you don't know how access the 0.1 BTC. (You won't be able to provide the correct hash yet)… The form does not expect the hash of a private key. That I can tell you right now.
   It already received over 20K hashes so far, from all over the world. It's just pointless    trying to find a valid hash for it if you don't know how to access the 0.1 BTC. You can    consider this as a small tip (and save yourself some valuable time).”

   He also said, “Maybe the 0.1 wallet is part of something bigger. Maybe it's not.”

•   The numbers grid can translate the hex codes.  Oct 2 2018 is the key to the grid when you use it as the shift key for decoding.  You get a new grid

If you want to solve a $2 million dollar problem, be a $3 million dollar man. If you are not a $3 million dollar man, think like one!  

I believe I am going to employ 15 persons on $2k/month for just one month (it's not a big amount so those smart people should take this risk with me). If we find it, we share the prize. If we don't find it, we enjoy the experience we had together and me losing some cash. I think you must be crazy to believe you can do it alone.
This guy is for sure a genius who can solve world's problems with his knowledge and skills. I would have loved receiving more information because it was unclear whether we were looking for the mnemonic, private key or anything else.

Regarding the challenge, the guy is too smart to allow you getting 310.00 BTC without getting first 0.1 -> 0.2 -> 0.31 BTC
He is smart, he probably has an entrepreneurial mind. Would people still try to get the 0.2 and 0.31 BTC if the 310 BTC would be already rewarded? Probably not.

I don't know if I'm on a track or not at all and I'm doing this as I can, but on the forums dealing with this puzzle I found nothing like this.

- On photoshop, since the original image by making a threshold in value 1 and de-zooming of the image I get this image that I call "A" with regular points

- In the same way with a threshold at 255 I get "B" which reveals dots and the outline of the QR code at 0.1BTC

- By adding A + B + The original image I notice that the points appear in some cells of the image as well as on some of the curves of beziers. Moreover the points of A appear on black background and that of B on white cells -----> it is possible that I didn't reveal all the points which should appear on black or white background.

- Always starting from the original image, doing Image / Settings / Equalize then a threshold to 255 and finally Zoom Out I isolate some points that appeared on B. I thus call this image "C"

And you could not give the solution to the private key of the 0.1 BTC wallet, I mean, it's already solved, right?

Maybe the 0.1 wallet is part of something bigger. Maybe it's not.
Either way, if I were to publish the steps, I would be unintentionally giving that away and it is too early for hints already.

The use of the word bigger in this sentence gives away that the answer it's in the first option. Enthusiasm about the question and people's interest  makes people use words like "bigger" or other adjectives that tend to stay where the truth is in the sentence.

i will tend to believe that the 0.1 wallet answer has to do with the 0.2, 0.31 and 310 BTC wallet.

That means most probably the other 2 wallets 0.2 and 0.31 are also part of the the big answer.

I think there is no end date.
But unless OP decides to pull out (as it has happened before - I saw such cases on reddit) I think it'll be solved pretty quickly, as you can see there are at least several groups of people trying to decode it and probably many other such groups are hidden, there is a lot of money to be won so expect fierce competition.

It's the hash of the first three hashes of the private keys created from the keywords "lyrics rhythm music" then converted into morse, and that converted into a binary string converted into decimals.
But first you have to unsalt the hex - of course, it's saltied. From there we derive the seed phrase of the rgb LBSs which are divisible by 8 and separate them from the GRN levels of the alpha layer. But you knew that. Some bright bright people in here.

Then you map those coordinates by placing the curves on the map into steganogrophosaurus decipherer software and placing the results from the original message over a map of Europe. This was deduced because it's obvious the creator is from Europe given his accent and his code name: Pip. His birthday is Oct 2 which makes him a Libra. (That's also why Pip said it could be partly solved on a train - think about it!)

If you align the map with the constellations from Oct 2, 2018 you get a direct path pointing to the constellations of the Libre. Giving us our next 12 word mnemonic 32byte bip. Then the key can easily be derived using the shift function of the word Bitcoin upside down backwards from the grid, extracted from the bezier ellipticals converted through the ascii to the salted binary blob, twisted then filtered with a stained glass mosaic in the forest multiplied by 16. You have to find your way to the coordinates.

Very interesting activity, I am ready to accept this challenge, I think this will become a topic that I will pay attention to every day, because I encountered this kind of challenge for the first time!

Get up to speed on the 310 Bitcoin Challenge

While completely fascinated with this, it’s distracting me from important real life priorities.  I’m more or less obsessed with this puzzle.  After examining many elements of it, I have to come to terms with the fact that I don’t have the educational background or experience to solve this.  By the time I cracked it, it would have been done already.  

I can only follow the bread crumbs of other much smarter ladies and gents than myself.  Frankly, I must say I find it frustrating that Pip has created this to only be solved by those with a knowledge of computer science math, cryptographic curves, languages, the inner bones of the back end of BTC wallets, image/message encryption and other complex fields of study.  It puts the majority of people at a great disadvantage.  

The people who are knowledgeable in these things are the types of people who more than likely already have plenty of Bitcoin – likeminded to the creator.  It seems to me that much of the ethos behind Bitcoin is distribution of a network and massive wealth transfer.  Why not make these puzzles to have a chance of falling into the hands of every day people and broaden the scope of that network?  Why not use this opportunity to further encourage adoption, rather than further scare people away?  The  BTC are just being moved around the same circles this way.

Well, it is what it is, and no amount of guilt tripping anyone is going to change anything, but I think it’s a valid question to consider.  No one has to make these puzzles at all and they are free to construct them however they like.  All I can do is what I can do.  So I’ve systematically assembled bread crumbs.  Will they lead us to a solitary place in the woods for the final answer?

When restoring the wallet using the mnemonic in Electrum check Options -> Bip39 seed

Being as the first line of the grid was all converted to 310, indicating the solver was heading in the right direction, someone else appears to be making further progress using the grid.

To be fair I am even not sure if the first line is garbage at all. Think about this: how about if there is a second shift key and when we put it on the same grid the other way around happens: the two middles lines are 310s and we get words seeds from the other lines? And that might be the seed for the 310 BTC. There is something symbolic in that 310. 310 challenge, 310 written on the corner and the hidden code was on line 310. I think that this or the red salted string contains the key to the wallet with 310 BTC. But they might contain the same info but need multiple keys to give multiple results.

I also think we will need multiple keys /longer bip39 string for the 310 BTC wallet.
Maybe that’s how he ensures linearity, every wallet is a bip39 string with the next 12 words added.
That’s also why he used the same line to generate the 310310310 line to indicate you need to concatenate the two results for the next one.

What do we know for certain?

•   The first wallet has found
•   The 2nd wallet was found but no one knows who did it yet, not even Pip
•   It’s futile to try to brute force the hash or access to the backend of the site – it’s been secured
•   The solver of the 2nd wallet address has not contacted Pip and hasn’t been public with his knowledge.
•   You don’t have to be registered to solve the puzzle, as the first winner was not.  But both winners seem to be now as the site said 2 have been registered.
•   There are 2, or more, binary strings.  Only one has been solved.
•   Before the challenge went public, Pip sent 310 BTC to the 0.31 wallet in batches of 10BTC, emptied it, then sent the 0.31 BTC.

What do we know (or think we know) about Pip?:

•   He mined BTC early on as an early adopter
•   He bought a large number of BTC fairly early on
•   He received airdrops which he went through the trouble of converting to Bitcoin
•   He has lots of Bitcoin
•   He doesn’t want to share his identity – I don’t blame him
•   Most, or a considerable percentage, of what he is giving away was received in airdrops
•   He seems friendly.  Other than the facts that he is willing to give hints if/when needed he sometimes responds to people and dropping subtle tips, he using phrases like, “have fun...”, “Good luck!”, “Don't be sad”, “please accept my apologies” (when he doesn’t owe anyone anything), and “...my friend”.  “If you find the code, please get in touch with me. I would love to hear details about your approach!”
•   His choice of words, grammar structure, and “tone” sounds American to me
•   He is not artistic, saying,  “creating the picture was the most difficult since I'm not an artist myself.”  This makes me think the filters on the image are just that, photoshop filters, and mean nothing more.  Unless perhaps, he had help putting this all together.  But, the fact he says it was difficult sounds like he did it himself, because getting help would have made it easy for him.
•   He doesn’t want to give to charity for his own reasons and doesn’t want to discuss it.  (Which is fine – he owes none of us anything)

Possible clues/approaches.  What might we ask? (Each trail may lead us to a red herring, but it may be a good idea to use the process of elimination and explore every possibility.  I imagine some people will have been inches away from finding something before they turned to another direction):

•   Pip calls himself Pip.  What is this in reference to?  (Pip can mean different things)
•   He chose to launch this on Oct 2 – does it have any relevance other than for being used as a shift function to solve the 1st wallet.
•   Do the filters applied to the photo (B&W, stained glass, graphic pencil, texture) matter?  Or are they just filters applied to an image?
•   Does the image choice of a forest mean anything?
•   Are the curves Bezier curves?
•   Is it a Voronoi diagram?
•   Is it a mosaic puzzle?
•   What does Pip mean by, “the data you got so far.”  Is solving each piece progressive, dependent on 1 or all of the former solutions?
•   Does morse code have anything to do with anything here?
•   Is there a clue in these words themselves from the seed phrase of the first wallet?  Notice: lyrics, rhythm, music, and fury, horror, mansion – may not be random.
•   When he says it can be partly solved printed out and riding a bus, could this be the final step, as in you have to travel somewhere to claim it?
•   Is there a file hidden in the image using encryption software?  People have scanned the file and said no – but are they right?
•   The 0.2 wallet seed phrase is the 0.1 phrase + goldfinch hex to pib39.  So, possibly the 0.31 phrase is 0.1 + 0.2 + X.

Sorry everyone, but congratulations to me. I've solved the 310 BTC challenge!! Want to know how I did it? Gather around and have a seat - it's story time! You're favorite!

It's the hash of the first three hashes of the private keys created from the keywords "lyrics rhythm music" then converted into morse, and that converted into a binary string converted into decimals.
But first you have to unsalt the hex - of course, it's saltied. From there we derive the seed phrase of the rgb LBSs which are divisible by 8 and separate them from the GRN levels of the alpha layer. But you knew that. Some bright bright people in here.

Then you map those coordinates by placing the curves on the map into steganogrophosaurus decipherer software and placing the results from the original message over a map of Europe. This was deduced because it's obvious the creator is from Europe given his accent and his code name: Pip. His birthday is Oct 2 which makes him a Libra. (That's also why Pip said it could be partly solved on a train - think about it!)

If you align the map with the constellations from Oct 2, 2018 you get a direct path pointing to the constellations of the Libre. Giving us our next 12 word mnemonic 32byte bip. Then the key can easily be derived using the shift function of the word Bitcoin upside down backwards from the grid, extracted from the bezier ellipticals converted through the ascii to the salted binary blob, twisted then filtered with a stained glass mosaic in the forest multiplied by 16. You have to find your way to the coordinates.

It was in Bellarussia - of all places! Now that I have over 310 Bitcoin (don't even know how I solved this first amongst all these tech wizards and goddesses -see you aren't the only ones in the world who can have/win Bitcoin!), if you send me just 1 BTC, I will send you 10!
