Put the wallet in the pass protected zips for people so they can download before launch. This is pretty standard launch procedure now.

If it does not happen, it is just branded a scam coin and people are starting to wake up to this kind of thing. Fair release is really essential if the coin is to be taken seriously at all in the future now.

+1

This last weeks failed launches has made the community really wary and pessimistic of new coins.

seems just another scrypt.. probably inspired from doge... only one meme coin can succeed! Still seems intresting but I see no hard work, I dont understand why people don't make SHA-3... much better for gpu miners and not so old as scrypt. I'll mine littlebit.

So I'm curious, what exactly is causing 2 people to get no issues, but everyone else has issues? I mean, it's far too late now. Either it will be relaunched, or 2 people will hold 100% of all coins. Either is a dead coin. But, for future reference, what is it that causes this?

The Git source has pre-built object files and binaries that prevent you from building on some platforms.  Anyway....

Here are instructions for installing on FreeBSD:
http://www.unibia.com/unibianet/freebsd/freebsd-ports-many-alternative-crypto-currencies#mustachecoin

And a mining pool:
http://mustachecoin.securepayment.cc

stratum+tcp://mustachecoin.securepayment.cc:3349
(keep in mind that there are tons of orphans due to low difficulty)

Connect to this mining pool using your MustacheCoin address as the username to "solo mine" for half the block reward.

You can use any Scrypt miner: CPU Miner, CG Miner 3.7.2 (Best for AMD GPU's), BGF Miner (Best for AMD GPU's), CUDA Miner (NVidia GPU's)

minerd.exe --url=stratum+tcp://mustachecoin.securepayment.cc:3349 --userpass=ANYTHING:ANYTHING
cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://mustachecoin.securepayment.cc:3349 -u ANYTHING -p ANYTHING
bfgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://mustachecoin.securepayment.cc:3349 -u ANYTHING -p ANYTHING
cudaminer.exe -a scrypt -o stratum+tcp://mustachecoin.securepayment.cc:3349 -u ANYTHING -p ANYTHING
If you happen to find a block you'll get half the reward. The remaining reward is donated to the pool operator. If you just want to donate hashes use anything for the username.

Miner stats can be viewed here.

Boosting the payout to 70% the Block Reward at http://mustachecoin.securepayment.cc to encourage miners to evenly distribute their hash power.  This will help reduce orphans.

Folks, this crazy fast mining is overwhelming mustache.stinkbrain.com and introducing all sorts of crazy errors. I'm shutting down the pool until I can get it sorted out. Please go mine somewhere else for now.

EDIT: problems have been resolved, payments are going out, pool is fully operational once again!

mustache.stinkbrain.com down for the moment to clear out bad block records and catch up on payouts.

Also - PM me if you'd like to buy some coins. Mining them is challenging at the moment.

This is great, nice launch with a chance for small time miners, not only for whales and multipools to rape and dump.

Solo mining working great, < 30% rejects, still good time to join in, max rewar

I like the cause, definitely going to donate once the foundation is up. No premine, honest devs - I hope this will grow - I'm going to support it for sure.

A lot of potential, we can organise something like Movember...

Could use some pools to spread the hash.

In the mean time try mining solo, the diff is still very low and reward high, these days it's quite rare.

Get some mustache!

Op link work just as fine with this. Once you run this. it will install two folders. the roaming folder and the program files folder where the wallet and its dlls is. could you upload the c:/program files(86x)/mustachecoin wallet folder as zip. all the dlls and the wallet exe file there?

I've been using this pool for other coins in past, never had any issues, also was very stable.
Definitely not scammers, contact them if you have any issues, in the meantime use some other.

Backlog of payments is processing now. Pool needs to be stopped every few hours and cleaned up. Mining difficulty is too low for stable operation at high hashrates. Try solo mining if you're impatient.

The payout system has been working great this past day.  I'm now switching it over to fully automatic.
I'll setup up for every hour and see how things go.

Blocks are payed after 1000 conformations.  Hopefully once the network stabilizes we can lower that down to 100.

Thanks for mining!

I think it has something to do with the way crypto currencies make "change".  For example, I pay for something that cost $15 with a $20 bill, I get $5 back in change.
It's that or it's something with the way the block explorer does things.

Well I see what's going on now after reviewing the source:

src/main.cpp

Code:
static const int64 nTargetTimespan = 8 * 60 * 60;
static const int64 nTargetSpacing = 2;

According to the above, it's 2 second block times and a difficulty readjustment of every 8 hours.
I love the fact that we can all have billions of mustaches, but the fact is that this coin will be worth very little and it will be fully mined in less than a few days.

Maybe a re-launch is needed.

Well done for consulting the source. Wish I had done that myself.

A 2 second block time is ridiculous. I'm shutting down the stinkbrain pool. Will try to fix the last errors and pay out to everyone but as configured this coin is useless. Good learning experience though!

Well I see what's going on now after reviewing the source:

src/main.cpp

Code:
static const int64 nTargetTimespan = 8 * 60 * 60;
static const int64 nTargetSpacing = 2;

According to the above, it's 2 second block times and a difficulty readjustment of every 8 hours.
I love the fact that we can all have billions of mustaches, but the fact is that this coin will be worth very little and it will be fully mined in less than a few days.

Maybe a re-launch is needed.

aww man you ruined the fun.

It was fun wasn't it?  Here I was thinking I had accumulated about 10 BTC's worth.  Cheesy

The intention of the coin seemed good.  The handlebar mustache meme is something that's popular lately.  Hopefully the developer can fix this problem and re-launch.
The meme has potential.

If he forks, you get to keep your coins.
I doubt anyone will want to jump in knowing there are already many billions of coins mined.

Chain may fork, may restart, may stay the same. Only the dev knows.

I mined a ton of BBQcoins a long time ago and gave away tens of thousands when it seemed it was dead. Now it's actively traded on multiple exchanges.

So - as primary pool operator for Mustachecoin, I make the following short-term offer:

1 BTC buys you ONE BILLION Mustachecoins. You can tell your friends you're a cryptocurrency billionaire.

First we need to fix the block target from 2 sec to 60 sec.

We're now at block ~108300, we could fork at block ~130000 - in 12 hours.

While doing fork, how about changing retarget from 8h to 1h?

It wasn't instamine, coin was announced, everyone had an equal chance to join from the start.

I still think it's a for a very good cause, people will donate toward movember, and if we build up some value, charity could benefit!

P.S. I personally started late, less than 24h ago, still more than happy to donate a lot and put up bounties for various services.
If everyone join in, we could make a difference here.

Pls double-check your payout address. Manual and automatic working for other pool members.

BTW, pool is still allocating payouts for the last few thousand blocks found. You might want to wait for a couple hours to be sure you get everything before making the final withdrawal.

stuff like tx-fee,coin time ect is integrated into the chain.to change that stuff
you need to rebuild the chain so yes, they would have to mine again,.

The thing is when the difficulty climbs the 2 seconds block time increases, alot.
Like dogecoin the blocktime is almost 5000% what it started to be,there is no need to change this aslong as there
are miners.

Each difficulty adjustment is made to maintain a 2 second block target. More miners will not fix this problem. Mustachecoin is fundamentally broken.

Back when alt coins were first getting popular people experimented with low block targets to try to make a fast coin that would confirm more quickly. The lowest I remember seeing was 15 seconds. That caused lots of orphaned blocks and chain forks because transactions could not propagate through the network in such as short amount of time.

If you really want to help charity, re-release the coin with nTargetSpacing = 60 or higher. I'll run the pool.

This wallet right now is like Operha.

You get a million mustache, you get a million mustache , errrrbody gets a million mustache!!!!!!

Seriously what is wrong with the wallet? difficulty still 0.007  . and this is a doge coin copy cat. so millions are being found left and right.

Enjoy while you can... soon reward halves, perhaps this will reset the diff, if not, we'll have an update soon.

Until then...

Mined at OKAYPool for quite a few hours yesterday (about 5 hours), never got any coins.l

Logged in today... now my usernameand password don't work. Tried to reset my password... no email!

DO NOT MINE AT OKAYPOOL

This coin needs a relaunch, if the DEVS allow it to continue by just forking it, then kiss the value of this coin goodbye. Everybody will be dumping at 1 satoshi of a Doge, with NO buyers.

The Dev should have all the people with coins send them to him, he keeps track of who has how many, figure out a percentage on what they should have mined, then relaunch with a premine for that exact amount, and distribute to those miners. That would be fair for all parties and for this coin.

From stinkbrain pool:

"Shutting Down The Pool, posted Mar 8, 2014 at 22:11 by wormbog

"Turns out MustacheCoin is configured for 2-second blocktimes. At that rate the coin will be mined out in a few days. I've shut down mining and will attempt to pay out all accumulated coins now. This one is heading for the crypto junkyard."

Thanks for the heads up, I agree btw. Glad I didn't waste more time on this.
