Hello BitcoinTalk,
we are guys behind www.OpenCrypto.io and we have decided to create an open-source crypto-asset database, which will be easily integrated and earn trust by community validation.

Our motivation is to change current state of crypto related data, which are mostly centralized, unverifiable, not structured and even paid.
We think its not optimal, and if we want crypto development to naturally grow, we should help it as a community.

This issue is why we are starting our project with creation of open-source depository of crypto related data.
We already structured common reference blockchain data (aseets, exchanges, clients, ledgers...) for easy access and review, validated few interesting projects and built tools for data implementation.

We believe, that blockchain data should be put in context and open for everyone willing to work with them.
Also that the community needs ultimate source of truth and therefore ability to validate data by itself.

--- --- --- --- --- ---

In the near future, we are going to focus on setting rules for autonomous public validation and build various real-time APIs.

Also we are already working on few sub-projects, which hopefully will use this data to improve overall user-experience and onboarding into blockchain space.

--- --- --- --- --- ---

Currently we are looking for anyone willing to help us.
Mainly for developers, but also for blockchain enthusiasts and contributors.
Feel free to reach out, if you are interested Smiley

Thank you all

Well, your first link doesn't seem to work with the www. in front of it.
When I remove it I get redirected to https://data.opencrypto.io/

You might want to fix that.

The website itself looks really good though, really handy to have all cryptocurrency-related projects in one place.

OK, thanks for appreciation and report Smiley We have fixed it - there is redirect to database sub-domain (our main presentation is still under development)

No problem at all, indeed it works just fine now!

While I'm not a developer myself, it sounds like this is actually a much needed tool.
Am I understanding it correctly, that this database provides free access to various bits of data/information about cryptocurrency projects?
Whereas now that data is controlled by commercial entities.

I'm asking because I might write a short article about this in the future. I'm hoping it would attract some additional contributors, who could help add more projects to the database.

Yes, this database aims to cover all informations about various cryptocurrency projects (not just coins, but even exchanges, client, other tools etc.) – and provide them for free. We as developers want to build more tools, libraries and access interfaces for those data (so anyone can easily use/review them)

Let us know, when you will write down that article - we could probably offer some insights Smiley
Basic difference between OpenCrypto and services like CMC is that we want to open and crowd-source validation of those data - and also provide more useful informations instead of just market data (like price, supply etc.)

Thanks! That Medium article really does explain everything quite well.
I think my questions will largely get answered by reading that Smiley

Will definitely ask you directly when I have any more questions and I'll share the article with you when it's finished.

Again, great job!
