I think that an ETF will have little short term influence on the price of bitcoin, long term it might increase the price through greater reach to the market. I don't think that any ETF will be approved in 2018, I wouldn't be surprised if it takes until 2020, always with these things there need to be constant iterations until the SEC is finally happy with what's being proposed.

There is a high chance that bakkt will get approved specially because it has very big names in it, and the proposal makes alot of sense

Hhmm ..don't be surprised price isn't going to get there any time now till we say a welcome to 2019 . ETF is not actually the issue of bitcoin, it was not approved when price climaxed last year. The more confidence built on the technology, more people invest and price will increase, then SEC will be interested to approve.

I like your thinking but let's not be greedy. We need for the trend to turn, to show investors that bulls are still there. I'd be very satisfied with 8k. This would ensure a reversal and the rest would work out on its own. I know that many investors who sold at 10k level or above it did not leave and forget about an asset that multiplied their investment by 10 in 6 months. We all know this is a life changing opportunity. If Bitcoin begins its climb again there's no stopping it below 20k.

i don't understand what does Bakkt has anything to do with ETF and why some people are saying "Bakkt ETF", they don't have any ETF as far as i know. Bakkt is more like a cryptocurrency exchange that will start in near future and some people are speculating that this new service/company because of the way it is can pave the way for ETF approvals such as CBOE and Winkle ETFs.

to answer your question if ETF is approved it can be as  the ignition of the rise to come but a lot of other things can also be that ignition. so in other words we  don't need ETF for reaching $10k and beyond.

the bitcoin market is so ready these days that any kind of positive news can trigger the start of the rally and $10k is not a problem at all since in my opinion the real value of bitcoin is somewhere around $9k-$10k which means going back to $10k is just going back to real price from this current undervalued prices.
ETF and Bakkt are only examples of what a positive news  can be and people are too focused on them that they are missing the bigger picture which is the accumulating that is happening by the whales.

Any time ETF is approve bitcoin is going to get serious pump and that might signal a new part to bullish trend.  The reason why bitcoin created an uncertain prices'direction was as a result of investors waiting for the outcome of the ETF issues before putting in there investments.  I have been following this ETF events for quite some time now and I believe that we just need to pray for it to get and $10,000 it will surely cross.

I really think we should stop thinking about the ETH for a moment and stop thinking that we can reach a $10,000 USD price this year Because my opinion would still be the same, Even if ETF would approve it will still be at the same price, And because we are in a bearish state it is usually that we are experiencing some drops every now and then, And don't be impatient even if you can't see your desire price right now or within this given year, It is still possible to attain it in some other years to come.

No. ETFs dont have any impact on price. Actually I fear they might have a negative impact, but I have a bias against regulations.

Impossible to say at this point. If there is an event that justifies the price to boom, then it's definitely an approval of the Vaneck ETF. This is the first legal instrument that offers long term exposure to Bitcoin, and at the same time takes actual coin supply out of circulation. If I'm not mistaken, it could even fit into people's 401k, so it's a pretty damn big deal.

The futures last year shouldn't have moved the price one single bit with how they don't contribute to this market in any way. It's an empty product stimulating short term price betting, and that's really it. People thought it would bring in much needed institutional capital, which it obviously doesn't since it's completely cash settled. An ETF does.
