Why? How do you know it'll create real demand? It might be nothing more than a little news pump.

People are always waiting for the next catalyst to a bull run. What they need to do is patiently wait out the market. Distribution and accumulation cycles take time. A bubble popped just 10 months ago! A year of sideways (or another crash down to $3000) wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Don't go expecting something similar to the extended cycle that resulted from MtGox crashing. That was a unique event.

The bear market by all signs is over now. I'm not saying that a new bull market is gonna start right now, but it is possible that BAKKT will be a catalyst for it. BAKKT is HUGE in terms of long term bullish news. If BAKKT had hit in 2017 it would have been the single biggest piece of news of the entire bull run.

It'll be interesting to see how quickly BAKKT is picked up. I think it might take a few months for Wall St to really start diving into BAKKT so I definitely think it's possible the next bull market doesn't really get going until early next year and we have a few months of this sideways trading around 6000 and 7000.

A year of sideways trading or another fall is just laughable consider what is looming on the horizon.

The signs is not clearly showing to us, but I think this will be a random aspects of movements in an unpredicatable happenings which everybody doesn't expect to happen right away. Just focus on your principles never listen to negative rumors, instead spread positive reviews rather than putting our crypto future to worst place.

i firmly disagree that mt gox mattered nearly as much as you say. not even close. but even if it did, why is another similar bear market impossible?

you say that mt gox was completely responsible for the 2014-15 bear market. what proof do you have?

gox was a dying exchange---fiat withdrawals were unreliable for almost a year prior. people always make shit up like "90% of the volume traded at gox!!!1!!" no fucking way, lol. almost all the traders i knew had left gox for bitstamp, bitfinex, coinbase and elsewhere. and as a trader, i can tell you that china was a far bigger driver of the market than gox. and gox shutting down actually removed a lot of coins from the market.

we were already in the midst of a bear market when gox went down. it was just one more catalyst for a selloff in a slow bleeding post-bubble bear market.

   I am very hopeful we could achieve a bull run by this 2018, after suffering the convenience matter in the market, wish it could break so. Though there is no signs of breaking up, I'll still stand firmly and wait for bull run to appear .

The biggest sign for me is that the price has been not volatile which is actually not rare in bitcoin world as some other people do not realize. The price of bitcoin actually stays about the same for a long time before it breaks out and becomes huge and drops back, it has always been that way, the price of bitcoin stays at a same amount like couple cents to 3 dollars or 11 to 30 or than to 250 or 1400 all of those break outs happened all of a sudden and than they all had a big drop ever since bitcoin was created.

Same happened with this 20k as well and it hasn't been even that long because last time we reached 1.4k was 4 years ago and than price went down to 250 dollars and we needed to wait until last year before it went up again. Right now we are above what we used to be last year and that is more than enough but we are getting closer to getting that break out soon because the price already became stagnant and not going further down anymore.

Many positive comments and posts are now coming into the market and on like what we were having in some days and weeks back.  Bitcoin trading is now becoming more attractive now as new investors are coming into the market.  We are going to see a breakout very soon and that means we should buy now no matter the little you think will help you make money in future.

Have you considered the measures exchanges have put in to stop price manipulations which could have caused this slow come back of bitcoin to $20k? Because I remember reading some articles online that said prices were manipulated by a whale and a whole bunch of propaganda and AFAIK these pump and dump groups of today aren't as they use to be, so this breakout bull remains as mere speculation.

It is always going to keep being that way unless we tend to start seeing real life usage in this space.
At the moment, the market is more speculative in nature than anyone could imagine, considering the fact that so many times, a lot of people are just so centered on hype and this is the reason a lot of people feel disappointed at times, make the wrong moves on the market by selling at loss while losing hope and before you know it, the market is back at it again and then the fear of missing out starts kicking in all over again. It is actually one thing we cannot run from at the moment, as a lot of people are just looking for quick gains in the short term with no single clue of what they are even doing.

No one is absolutely saying this is not a real deal, at least in the long term, and the chances of a break out is there, but truth be told, the market is more speculative in nature and that is always going to be a problem eventually.

At the long shot of it, we get to see a break out to the upper side, people start FOMOing for no reason, we hit probably the previous ATH, and then we start hitting back to the lower spot again. Nonetheless, the future is bright and when usage and real adoption kicks in, I believe things would even get a lot better in the long run.

I do not see any signs out of it, the bull market is not going to happen so soon after we had a bull market at the last year, it simply does not make sense, after such a long bull run everyone is exhausted, I know I was, it was incredibly taxing to try to keep up with everything bitcoin was doing during the last year that I am in fact happy that we are seeing some sort of stability.

The stability is short lived. It's only stable because we're in between the bear market and bull market. This won't last longer than a few months, and we're already over a month and a half into it.

Like you said it's hard to predict what will be the price of bitcoin before year ends. Maybe next year is time to see bitcoin in a good price because now we still in stable price and don't have any sign of bull run. Let's hope that we see bitcoin in good price this year.

Well, this year has been a "hell of a year" for us. Coins that came into the system this year have suffered the bad of fate but in all things we should be gkad we're still hanging around. As for predictions, if only the bottom everyone is talking about is true, then we'll be good to go in no time.

if by "coins" you are talking about all the altcoins, then it is not a new thing and this year was not an exception. it was actually repetition of all the history of altcoins. new shitcoins created every year. most of them only live a couple of months on average before dying. and last year we had a new phenomenon called ICO and it introduced hundreds of tokens which mostly started their dumps this year and many of them are already dead.

the "bottom" everyone is talking about is bitcoin bottom not generally. and for many altcoins this bottom is 0 not the current price as we have been proven multiple times so far with dumps that keep happening.

Real deal yes it is, but effect is still unmeasurable so let's just see on how things would go on December 12.
Let's just assume the bull comes after few weeks when Bakkt already is on the go, expect also a quick dump but if there's a resistance then we might see the light for the longer and higher ceiling.

For now I couldn't see any of that signs that bull run is establishing possible price surges on market place. But there were coins that has also gained good price standing in terms of demand on buy orders right now. Hopefully that would also be happening to bitcoin in the next further days, surprises will shock everyone when bull run will initiate an outstanding remarks.

As long as people keep waiting for it it won't happen. When people are ready for it they are also ready to sell with a small profit. That's why we are going lower and lower. When we had first downtrend correction they were huge like the ones in February and March. Then smaller and smaller until there's almost no moves up because at first people wanted to wait and see if it maybe goes higher. They knew Bitcoin is capable of staying at around 10000. They got burned a few times and told themselves that next time they'll be smarter than the rest and they'll sell earlier on, before the rest. And so it goes.

Not exhausted of making money since no one can get exhausted of that, exhausted of having to watch the market every day because something could happen at any moment, I know that is not necessary now, I could stop watching the market for a month and I know that the odds the price remains at a level close to the current one are great, but that was not the case when we were in the middle of the bull market.

Here, we are just too busy speculating the price while waiting for the bull run but doesn't really know when it will happen. We keep on hoping that one day this bearish market will come to an end with the help of this good news but it seems that it doesn't really care at all.
If it tries to go up someone will pull it back again to its previous level and we can't help it.
I do hope that this bakkt will bring some good news and will change the market from being bearish.
